Instant Heat Blanket

*****Please look at the picture and read the description carefully. If you do so, you will see that the product is 36" X 60" or three feet wide and five feet long. The term "blanket" is misleading, but this product works wonderfully when used correctly.*****Best way to use the Instant Heat Blanket- Place the product (fuzzy side up) underneath the bottom sheet on your bed, or draped over your couch or favorite chair. You then sit or lay on TOP of the product with a blanket/comforter covering you to help hold in the body heat that is reflected by the product. (Remember that heat rises, so this product works best when used underneath you.) I'm 5'5" and I like to arrange the product under the bottom sheet of my bed so that when I lie down, the top of it lines up with my shoulders which makes it long enough to keep my feet warm.Before I bought this product, it would take me longer to fall sleep on cold nights as it took a while for my body to get warmed up enough to drift off to sleep. Now, I fall asleep within a half-hour or so, and I don't wake up during the night because I'm cold. As another reviewer mentioned, when you wake up you may find your pajamas or nightgown slightly damp from sweat on the part of your body that is closest to the product. It's a fair trade-off for me to be so nice and warm at night!The Instant Heat Blanket is also machine washable. The instructions say to use cold water, gentle cycle, and to let it air dry.

I'm a naturally cold person. Always have been, always will be. I go though at least one electric heat blanket per year. I'm not comfortable unless I'm sleeping with a room temperate of 76 degrees or better. That said, this blanket is wonderful. It's not as much a "blanket" as it is a mat you lay on. I did have a problem with it scooting off to the side when I roll around at night, but I solved that by placing it underneath my fitted sheet. It makes a little bit of noise, but really it's no more then those plastic mattress covers for people with allergies. My real test was taking it camping last week. Normally I sleep with a fleece sleeping bag inside of a heavy sleeping bag and with a down comforter on top. Sometimes I'm still cold. With this blanket I slept on top of the heavy sleeping bag, and slept with just the fleece sleeping bag and comforter. I was warm every night. If you can't stand any crinkle type sounds, don't bother. But if being warm is more important, I highly recommend it. It was worth every penny and I will even save money by not purchasing more electric blankets.

Before I got this, I would have to stay in one place on my bed because anywhere else would be too cold. I placed this blanket under my fitted sheet at it's long enough to cover most of my queen size mattress. I can now get into bed and the sheets won't be cold, however, they don't get really warm either. I was under the impression that the blanket would help amplify the heat I produce, but either I don't produce a lot of heat or it doesn't amplify heat as much as I was expecting. This might not be a terrible thing as it means I won't have to worry about overheating, but I'll have to wait and see once it gets consistently colder at night.

Like some others have mentioned, this is not a soft blanket. It's rather stiff, folds awkwardly over shoulders, doesn't wrap well around you, is a bit small, and is kinda noisy. I found I did get uncomfortably warm while using it one night, so it works, though I won't be using it regularly. I also found some of the metallic backing came off in the wash. I had bought two, and I'll be saving them for emergency/no heat or power situations and instead using my little electric throws for regular old cold nights on the couch.

This blanket truly does keep me warm! After a bit of time being in bed I warm up just as well as an electric blanket, but it's better - no electric cord! I read others' reviews and saw some did not like the crickle noise, I figure I did not care if it makes noise. But I find it does NOT make any noise. Maybe placement makes the difference, I put it silver side down and put it directly under the fitted sheet. Another complaint I read is it shifts, well it does NOT shift under the fitted sheet. I am impressed with this blanket and am super happy with it.

I would give this zero stars if I could. My wife used this on our bed on a few very cold nights and all it did was make extremely loud noises, keep us from sleeping, and overheat my wife. We bought this blanket hoping to replace an older electric heating blanket that my wife uses to add extra warmth to our bed on very cold nights. What a waste of money. This item is an emergency heat blanket connected to a very light blanket. An emergency blanket, the kind you aren't supposed to use for long that are extremely loud and reflect so much body heat that you can't use them safely for more than a couple of hours. We tried using it as a throw blanket on our couch where we watch TV and my wife knits. Also so loud that we couldn't watch TV if my wife was using it. Don't waste your money.

This is so much smaller than I expected. I don't really feel like it works. Sure it warms you up eventually, but so do regular blankets. Its so small that its hard to wrap completely around you and I am only 5'2" - I would not recommend this.
