A Fly Went by (Beginner Books)

Saw this book on Tiktok and really loved how it was presented. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Artwork was pretty good. I would recommend as a gift for any child.

I read this book as a child and to my children. I was with my 3-year-old grandson and read it over and over again. There is so much in this adorable illustrated book about sequence and memory. What a surprise ending!

I bought this to add to his Easter presents. He loves books and this will be a big hit. It’s creative and the illustrations are wonderfulI also got him summer batman pajamas and a dinosaur color forms set. We will make bunny cookies too.

This was my favorite book as a kid, and bought to read to my 2 year old grandson. Maybe a mistake because he LOVES it. With the easy-to-remember title, he walks into my house and says Fly Went By. No question, just ready to read. Lots of words for a toddler, so I summarize pages and he helps name off who is chasing who.It is a little dated, e.g. has a hunter with a gun chasing a fox, and a mother cow worried that the fox wants to kill her calf. Nothing bad happens, and I skip over words that are more sensitive to the era and child. I was just a little surprised because the content would have been worded differently if written today. But still a gratifying story with a good, happy ending. That is probably why I remembered this so fondly after 60 years.

I’m a retired teacher. This has always been one of my favourites. Good illustrations, great rhyming, and it teaches sequence in a fun way. Just bought it for the grandchildren
