It looks comprehensive and comes well regarded as a publication. Also it seems to be well illustrated which is often half or more of the value of publications of this type. I bought it for a gift so am not really qualified to give a deep assessment as I am not a musician.

bought this for my friend. i flipped through the pages, and it seems pretty technical. not a "for dummies" book.

This book is probably one of the best investments I've made in my recording studio. With the information in this book I was able to get a better sound, which in turn allowed me to have better mixes that lead to more business!

Very helpful book. It may have saved our community radio station some serious bucks. The book explained the difference between a broadcast studio and a recording studio. I am grateful.

This book is an update of Everest's classic "Acoustic Design for Home and Studio". It is great for what it is. For more capable types, Everest's "Master" book is more complete. This one has the basics. For those who thought this is too technical, I wonder how they expect to deal with the other aspects of audio engineering. Just knowing how to twist a knob is not a path to excellence.In actuality this is a well written, very direct primer, starting with very basic physics, and leading to easy design engineering. It's not hard to calculate, design, finance or construct good acoustics, and the payoff is huge. It does require a modest amount of work, and calculations to get good data. Remember: "Garbage in, garbage out." Acoustics control your recording and playback. This book will give you a fighting chance.

The new edition is called "How to Build a Small Budget Recording Studio from Scratch ... , With 12 Tested Designs" is much more accessible. Both editions cover the same area with the same info, so I don't know why they are continuing to publish this old edition in parallel with the new.

This book is to explain the physics of sound in a room, and explains how to deal with it. The budget is relative, studios are not cheap if you want them to net good results. This is the third edition I have bought since 1980. But one book will never be enough of course, this one allows you to build a studio on it's own just the same. RIP Mr Everest. (1909-2005)

Great book was very pleased as i didn't realise it came with all the materials to build included in the price, the book arrived and 1 hour later a truck pulled up with lots of little green people who assembled me a booth to die for they also fixed up new bass traps and made some really nice looking broadband absorbers that tasted of strawberry ice cream.I then realized that indeed i had been spiked with the highest grade of LSD and my mum asked me nicely to stop licking the wall paper which i done but she did have to ask me twice, was a great book and i have now decided against opening a studio in London and instead am off on a pilgrimage to far away lands in search of natural ozone friendly acoustic products

Very nice book! It is well written , with nice charts, technical drawings and examples. Helped me a lot for the design of a recording studio.
