Whew, that book is thorough! I can give away half the books in my sewing collection.....if I wasn't such a hoarder. I saw this book in a giveaway announcement and, knowing this young lady's work, I just knew I couldn't wait for the results of a giveaway ( I never win anything anyway). And I knew that I wanted a copy of the book on my Kindle so I could read it wherever. She doesn't disappoint. I've made peplum tops, where before I had only admired them, I've begun to use the ribbon that I bought to run interesting tuxedo stripes down pants. I 've begun to look at my husband's dress shirts with a twinkle in my eye. What is more, I've begun to have an increased recognition of the construction of clothing and an imagination for exploring DIY clothing on my own. I work in a profession where you would not expect someone to DIY their clothing to make them unique and I love the compliments I get when I say"Oh, this? I made it myself." Thanks for the book with all the information and clear instructions.

I thought it was a good book for reference. I haven't used any of her ideas and I see a lot. The directions are easy to understand.

This book may revolutionize my wardrobe and style... I lost almost 20 pounds over the last few months after changing my diet for health reasons and I have gone from a size medium to small, 8-10 down to 4-6. Most of my clothes are too large and if they still fit, they don't quite fit right. I neither desire to replace my clothes, neither can I afford to. I do however sew. Though I have a basic understanding from previous clothing construction on how to modify clothing, some ready to wear clothes are a challenge to keep the original lines and design. This hook gives easy and clear steps that demystify altering clothes to achieve the fit you want. I have already modified my first tee shirt and it now looks so much better than it ever was meant to look. I'm looking forward to taking in my entire wardrobe.

Disappointed in this book. I felt it was more a sewing instruction book than project book. Less than half of book's content was spent on projects and most of these are very basic.

It was okay----I wanted to tell him and the card did that.

I started my own alterations business and this book is a "must have" to take in the back waist of jeans, make flared pants into skinnies, add trim to jackets, etc. The intro has basic info on tools, techniques, and sewing lingo, for beginners. This book has excellent step-by-step images to show how to do each action in an alteration and provides a finished image so you can see what it should look like. Whether you have a business or just want to raise or drop a hem in pants, jeans, or a skirt, this is a great book!

I was excited to read this book, especially since Ms. Stanley provides lovely inspiration on her blog. I was hoping that her book would provide new inspiration/ideas for wardrobe makeovers. However, upon reviewing the book, I was disappointed- many of these wardrobe makeovers are easily found on the internet.I classify myself as an intermediate seamstress. I sew/makeover a large proportion of my wardrobe. This is probably the reason why this book did not appeal to me. This book is appropriate for the beginning sewer or individuals who are interested in altering clothing.

I got this book after a friend recommended it to me and I very much enjoy it. I have not done a whole lot with it yet as I have been too busy to sew but I read over it and looked at each project. It states things in such a way it is very easy to understand. A perfect beginner book. A great addition to a seasoned sewer who wants to know more about refashioning what they have.

Very basic! for the beginner and young seamstress. Dont think I will make any of the suggested alterations...

Honestly I found it super boring. Looked through it quickly, didn't feel there was anything new in it, but left it to sink in. Looked a few days later and still nothing caught my eye that I simply had to make. Guess it's a nice to have book in case I'm super bored, but not impressed. But I'm sure others will love it, can't make everyone happy

Good ideas and information about revamping those items in the back of the wardrobe!
