This player is a piece of crap. I found a PDF manual on-line to make sure I was using it properly but it will not play most CDs even commerical brand new out of the package CDs. I managed to get two CDs to play on this piece of junk but they both stopped after a minute or two and would never play anything else on the CD and if I tuned it off and tried putting the same CD in again it wouldn't even play the piece of a song it had played the first time around. Radio isn't much better, lot of static, difficult to get a station and was unable to set automatic tuning for any stations. Unfortunately I was conned by Sony "past" reputation and did not save any of the shipping/return information so now I'm stuck with it--but I'll never buy Sony again.

Great item for the price
I wanted the reliability and quality of a Sony, and a CD player AND radio in one unit was very important to me, but I did not want to pay a lot as not too long ago I had purchased a Panasonic CD player/radio, and the CD player conked out on me pretty rapidly. This Walkman is durable (I have dropped it a few times, and the CD didn't even skip when dropped, and the unit still works wonderfully!). It is also relatively simple to operate. However, I do not like the buttons or display window much. The buttons are hard to press one-handed, and the display is hard to read most of the time. The buttons and display are located on the edge/circumference of the Walkman rather than on the nice, broad top, making it difficult to access them. NEVERTHELESS, if you want a quality Sony product at a good price and you aren't terribly bothered by button or display ergonomics (I am not), this is a Walkman for you. Great value for the money!

This Walkman plays my original Metallica,Megadeth,Kiss, Slayer and ACDC CD's perfectly, I'm truly and deeply satisfied with this product and I highly recommend it. Peace and keep rocking in the free world.
