Easy install if you have the right tools. The torx wrench provided was not adequate if you have a bolt that is secured with locktite. I recommend using a torx socket with a ratchet. I installed it on a Ram 2500 tailgate and it works flawlessly so far. Highly recommend for any tailgate that is not internally dampened.

It really does what it says that it should do. it can uses some improvement on the installation fits a little loose but that can be adjusted out. easy install much easier than reading the instruction just look at it and install. you know some instructions can over do it..(smile)

The media could not be loaded.  Bought for a 4th gen Ram 1500. Great modification, simple and easy. Great if you have little ones wandering around and accidentally drop a tailgate when they're too close or under it. Tailgate has a smooth drop just about the right speed, not too slow to open but not too fast either. Installed in about 5 minutes. Everything was good except the cable protector, which is a plastic/nylon piece that fits over a 3-4 inch section of the cable that I'm guessing is designed to keep the cable from being pinched when closing the tailgate. On my truck this piece was nothing but trouble, it would actually cause the cable to become stuck, jammed behind the shock body. Once I abandoned this piece everything worked perfectly. The protector might be useful or even necessary for other trucks, no idea. 4-stars instead of 5 for the hassle related to the cable protector and no good explanation in the instructions but I'd definitely recommend this product.

Easy enough to install and good instructions. However, I expected the shock to be a little stronger, similar to an easy-close toilet seat or kitchen drawer. Tailgate still drops very fast, just doesn’t slam.

The little nut insert that goes into the tailgate came off and fell inside tailgate. Now the strut is useless. They need to make it a bolt head that goes into the tail gate turns and locks which you could then put a lock nut on and then the strut.

I was very pleased with the tailgate assist. It was easy to install and performed way better than expected. That it has a lifetime warranty is just icing on the cake.

The item is awesome. Very easy to install and works best when adding one to each side. The low cost makes it easy to afford. Jesse V. CCTX

Install was quick but the kit is cheaply made. The strut is weak and doesnt slow the tailgate as well as expected. The cotter pins used to hold the strut in place allow the strut to wiggle a little. Not a solid design. The deezee product is a much better product t for about $7 more.
