Melee Mats DND Map Starter Set for Dungeons and Dragons - 24” x 36" 3 Pack Double Sided, Wet & Dry Erase Battle Terrain Grid - Tabletop Board Gaming Kit with Accessories

To begin you are buying these because of the awesome art work, and if that's all you want they are great. But if you want to draw your own custom maps on the grid then you need different mats, specifically the off-white, tan, or dungeon map colored maps. You don't know it yet, but those are the ones you actually want. I purchased my maps around 2022 and have been using them 2-3 times a month on average since then on average, and they remain very good shape. They roll up well enough and will lay flat if you counter roll them a few minutes before you use them. Once I put enough creases in them, rolling them up is easy enough. Also, I've taken very little consideration of protecting the cardboard tube that it shipped in and it's also holding up well. I wish the caps could be fastened to the end so my chochkies would stay in more reliably, and the included plastinc spray bottle isn't particularly air tight so if you are using a water alcohol mix it'll slowly leak out. But I run a very tactical game and find I can really only use the tan side of the one map. Black, Brown, and purple will write on the grey side, but if you have multiple ground types or objects you need to depict other colors will just get lost on the maps. This is true of all the maps, the images on them are so vibrant and clear that it makes regular dry erase markers difficult to see without a lot of redrawing of boarders to make them thicker. They don't smear too easily and are plesantly marker fast. If you have trouble getting the purple off pure rubbing alcohol or a water alcohol mix in a spray bottle works really well. Glare can be an issue under angled light, so be aware of that as well. Soft direct light or diffused lighting works best. But if you plan to draw on them, save the effort and go with maps that are off white.

Absolutely perfect will be purchasing more.

Its wonfeful. I love that the mats are dry erase, and double sided.

Very nice but a bit more reflective than I thought and the grid is a bit too faint.

I received these maps yesterday and looked over everything carefully. In the kit I received the following: ASIN: B07T44BK21 3 double-sided maps (Included the ship) 4 dry erase pens An eraser A small spray bottle Reusable items (beds, tables, etc.) The whole kit comes in a sturdy cardboard tube. Be sure to keep the tube!! The maps I received included the ship which has good detail. The maps are of good quality, they seem sturdy. If they are stored in the tube, they will come out curled a bit. Watch the video on how to remove any curling. They would be best stored flat, but that is impractical in most situations. I tried several of my own dry erase pens and they worked very well. I did not try leaving the ink on for a long period of time, but I do not think they will stain and if they do I think water or a small amount of rubbing alcohol will remove any residual ink. I will edit this review if I have any trouble with the ink staining. I am anxious to use these maps.

These are going to be perfect for my campaign. Stores up tight, but spreads out into a substantial battlefield, just the right size. Marker test was a success - their advice on using the tube to roll the mats out flat was spot-on. Happy about the overall purchase - would love to get my mitts on the mats that aren't in this set, but I'll figure that out somehow. Would recommend!

I ordered the map set with stickers and dry erase items, however, the maps arrived without all the other items. My son was immediately in love with the maps but also expected the stickers and dry erase items. I emailed and they sent it out right away. Arrived quickly and sent more than expected. We are beyond pleased with the results. And my son LOVES his products! Thank you for a happy 13 year old!!

I have been using these mats for my D&D 5E Game for a little over a month and I have been 100% satisfied with them. They are easy to roll out and put down, the markers leave clear, dark lines and are quick to be wiped away. The quality and detail on the mats match what was advertised 100% At least as important to me as the quality of the product was the speed and efficacy of their customer service. When I first received the set, it did not have the markers, eraser and spray bottle packaged in. I contacted Melee Mats, who responded quickly, apologized, sent me a priority replacement for the missing items and gave me a 20% discount for the inconvenience. Very happy with the speed and quality of their communication. Highest recommendation on this product and this company!

I love these maps. They’re perfect for my nautical campaign and the fact that they include the standard dungeon/grass/parchment maps in addition to the more specialized oceanic beach/ship/water maps is a huge plus. Any lingering pigment from dry/wet erase markers is easily cleaned with some rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer

a date les map sont super pour notre game de pirate D&D

I like the selection of terrain layouts, and the smaller size then a big map is great for smaller encounters. I do wish they offered the same maps in something other then laminated sheets. A nicer material would make these a must have!
