For anyone seeking a high quality telephoto zoom lens for portraits and action photography at a very affordable price, the Nikon AF Zoom Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6G Lens is a great solution. This very compact telephoto zoom lens is fully compatible with the Nikon N65 as well as Nikon's Professional D-series Digital SLR, 35mm Professional F5, F100, N80, N75 and Advanced Photo System Pronea cameras. Compact and lightweight, with a comfortable, well-balanced feel, the 4.3x zoom lens is ideal for candid shots, portraits, travel and sports photography. A key design element considered that the newest Nikon SLR models have built-in aperture control (via the Command Dial), and therefore do not require that the lens have an aperture control ring. With this point in mind, the G lenses omit the aperture ring, resulting a lighter and more compact lens. NOTE: G-type Nikkor lenses are fully compatible with the F5, F100, N80, N65, N60, N50, N4004-series, PRONEA 6i, PRONEA S, D100 and D-series (or any newer model, except D40/D40X and D60) cameras. Good lens, no auto focus on cheaper Nikon cameras
This lens makes your camera look like a professional camera. With the hood attached and fully zoomed out, it is really long. But surprisingly, not that heavy. Maybe because it is mostly plastic. This is an AF lens meaning it does not have an auto focus motor built in. Your camera has to have an internal auto focus motor and my camera does not (Nikon D3300) so I have to manually focus. If I wasn't a noob, I would have noticed that in the description and I would not have purchased this lens. I would have got the 55 to 200mm Nikon AF-S lens (which I now own). However, this is still a good lens. The zoom is incredible and the pictures have really good background blur when shooting at the widest aperture I took off a star because when the lens is being carried on neck strap, the lens will extend automatically while it is hanging while you are walking. It does not have a lock to keep the from happening. Maybe one day I can get a D7000 + series Nikon camera. Then this lens will be a real gem.

Product Box
I bought this as a Christmas present so I can’t speak to the actual lens itself. However, I was really disappointed in the box the Nikon lens came in. It looked very old, and used. The box itself was coming apart with corners flaking or peeling to the point that I had to check the actual lens for signs of use/wear and tear. It made me question if it was actually new. 3/5 for box itself. I will come back and rate quality once it’s used.

Not what I expected.
Wrong mount for my camera so would not function as an Auto Focus lens. I missed in the description that this was a G mount, when my camera needs a F mount. When I check whethter it was campatible, it said yes. And it is, but not in autofocus mode. Sending it back.

Amazing price for the lens, I priced the exact lens on other sites for over $350.The lens is incredible, lightweight and honestly couldn’t be happier

Good lens
It's a great lens but doesn't auto focus so unless you're using a tripod or have stable hands the pictures aren't gonna come out the best.

Love this lens for those pictures where you want to keep your distance but still get a great shot.

For the price, can't do better
I've been using this lens on my Nikon D750. (I know, it's not full frame, but the shots are still incredible.)I have two other lenses, but nothing that reaches this far. I'm surprisingly pleased with the image quality.The autofocus is a little slow, but for $150??? It's a steal. I've uploaded a couple of pictures taken with this lens.
