I loved it!!! It helped me to understand that I'm not alone in this... This book is in my heart. It touches some good points of history and the present that we live in. I totally recommend it, please read it, you'll learn a lot.

Wow! What an amazing book filled with amazong stories.

This is not what I was expecting after the reviews I had read on various websites. The stories so far are very hard to follow, and therefore become very confusing. It's as though each author is trying overly hard to stand out and write a great literary piece, knowing they might earn a place in this book. Therefore as a reader trying to learn about the experiences of migrants this is not the right book, as the essays seem more focused on being a literary masterpiece than on being down to earth and informative. I am halfway through the book and so far only one of the essays have I enjoyed reading and felt able to properly understand and learn from.

After reading the incredible selection of essays in the UK version I am so happpy to read this US version. I just wish these books would be put on the curriculum at school.You'll laugh, nod, gasp and be moved. A must read.

The writing is incredibly good and incredibly important. So much gold in one collection - you will not regret reading this.
