Jump Hackamore

The leather quality is really good, not waxy or cheap feeling, and the metal hardware is nice and sturdy! The noseband is stiff, and has some similarity to a bosal in my opinion. It is more of an English look though, and attached nicely to my dressage bridle and was easy to swap out. I believe it is NOT meant to be tightened in the same way a normal cavesson would be tightened, however. It fits my thoroughbred who can wear cob sized bridles with a couple more holes of tightening left, but I leave this hack loose. If it is tightened more, it puts too much pressure on her nose - I tried it tighter and she was visibly concerned as there was constant pressure and she did not know how to interpret that. In order to get the “slow down” message across, there needs to be room in the nose band for application of pressure followed by a release of pressure which is not possible when the hackamore is too tight. The photo does not show very well just how much room I left. I could easily fit my hands under. Initially I did think this would be too large for her, she does have more fine-boned conformation and it looks big. But I think the size is accurate and it would fit most regular horses if it is being used in the way I have described. Overall, my horse and I both really liked this bridle attachment!

The leather is nice quality & designed well to snap onto your existing bridle, but I personally found my mare responds much better to the weaver rope nose version (I also attach to existing bridle & just add a chin strap to the back). I’ll keep it around for days we’re just hacking around as it does seem more gentle on her nose than the rope version.

Great option to turn your bridle into a bitless bridle. I had looked at many kinds of available bitless bridles and hackamores, but they all put too much pressure on my horse's mouth/face. That was exactly what we wanted to avoid. With this noseband, you just attach it right to your bridle and the reins control from the sides without pulling or hurting. It is meant to be worn loosely.

This is an excellent, economical, functionally superior piece of equipment. If you want to ride bitless, this is my definite recommendation for stability and effective communication.

This was way too big for my thoroughbred's nose. Better suited for a draft horse.

I have two of these hackamore sidepulls and they are great. Will buy more. I love that they can be put on any headstall, english or western. They seem to be comfortable for the horses and are very easy to use. The quality is great! Will be buying again.
