Outstanding movie in every way -- and a fantastic Blu-ray, too
GOOD TIME marks the first time I've ever rented a movie and, when it was over, immediately walked over to my computer and ordered the Blu-ray Disc. (Usually I have to think about it awhile, but not this time.) I knew I had to have this in my collection right away. Another reviewer below called this the best movie of 2017. It's certainly my favorite movie of the year (and maybe the decade). For starters, it's a film that LOOKS like film. Far too many movies these days have that too-clean digital look. Not GOOD TIME. It was shot on 35mm film, and this makes a world of difference.GOOD TIME harks back to the classic crime thrillers of the 1970s, but with plenty of modern twists. No spoiler alerts in this review. Let's just say the story propels forward with incredible speed and keeps you engaged till the end. Really, my mind didn't wander for even a second during the whole film. Script, direction (maybe two directors is better than one? The Safdie Brothers did a beautiful job here), cinematography, music -- all perfect. And the casting: If Robert Pattinson is eager to put those "Twilight" movies behind him, he certainly found the right vehicle with this. He gives an amazing performance. (Ditto all the others actors too.)Speaking of Pattinson: He participates on the Blu-ray audio commentary track, even though the packaging doesn't list him (!) It's a very fun listen.Blu-ray quality is pretty wonderful here -- flawless picture, and the kick-ass soundtrack is served well. (The music, by Oneohtrix Point Never a/k/a Daniel Lopatin, is tremendous and really enhances this already-great movie.)You'd be hard pressed to find a more enthralling or well-made film than GOOD TIME. I'm going to watch it again & again.

Worth the watch, thank Pete!
Learned of this film when Pete Davidson gushed about it on the Tonight Show (between Grande moments). This is a good movie, with a great acting showcase by Robert Pattison, who I previously thought was just pretty. This should have gotten more play in the theater, but I guess that is good news for us.as we get it for free with Prime. Again, worth your time.

Whoa. Grab your Xanax and hold on
After watching Uncut Gems I realized I had chewed off all my fingernails and worked my way to the skin alongside the nailbed. My jaw was clenched, I was sweaty and I'm pretty sure I had a tension headache. And I knew for certain that I MUST see EVERYTHING these brothers have created. I began reading up on them and had that, "oh yeah, I remember now" moment recalling a glowing review of Robert Pattinson's performance in Good Time. Both of these movies are incredible. Their storytelling style is positively possessive. They grab you by the collar and thrust you into their world, shake you around like a rag doll and when it's over you're staring blankly off in the distance questioning your own existence. The intense music, superb performances, the continual motion, the character's continual bad decisions and their ability to influence those around them into blindly following - including me- it's orchestrated into a symphonic cacophony that would make Anthony Burgess proud.

One of the stronger films from 2017
One of the stronger films from 2017. If you are looking for an edgy film that does not hold back this is for you. I'd describe it as Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck meets Slacker by Richard Linklater. Robert Patterson has entirely removed himself from any stigma related to the Twilight series. he is an awesome actor that is willing to take new and challenging roles. The score to this was amazing too, as was the cinematography.

WHY DIDN'T I WATCH THIS SOONER
Anyone who says Robert Pattinson isn't a good actor or can't play Batman needs to watch this movie right here!!! Good Time is a gritty crime film about a petty criminal who is trying to get bail money to get his mentally challenged brother(played by one of the film's directors Benny Safdie) out of prison. Right from the start the film has an incredible pace with an immediate sense of urgency throughout. That's what Good Time does best, you're constantly at the edge of your seat and you don't have much time to think much like our main character as he tries to find a way to get the bail money for his brother while having to deal with various setbacks thrown at him.The movie perfectly recreates the grittiness of urban New York with it's rundown neighbors, poverty stricken houses, and lower-class citizens trying to scrape by with very little meaning to their lives.Besides the stellar performance from Robert Pattinson, the film's cast( made up of first timers and legitimate New York residents) add a realness to the film's settings with standouts being Buddy Duress as Ray and Taliah Webster as Cystal.Good Time is another hit from the Safdie Brothers and now I'm very much looking forward to watching their upcoming film Uncut Gems.A+

Robert Patterson continues to impress
Robert Patterson has quietly been taking on some interesting roles and delivering incredible performances. Good Time is another fantastic piece of work. Like life on the other side of the fence for those that hustle to stay afloat and alive sometimes those decisions and risks come at a price. Our family. Robert Patterson races through the grungy underbelly of the world most of us walk over to find a way to get his handicapped brother out of trouble, and like the saying goes. "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions"

movie sound track is perfect the cinematography is mediocre
I think it's not the product problem.it's such a low budget film that sometimes the focus is out when there is handheld shots following the actors.Very annoying.I think they did not even had time to shoot one more time. The lighing is always not enough so it is not like Academy cinematography worth movie. But the plot and the movie is amazing. And if you want to buy it buy bluray.DVD will be worse, I can tell.

Poor Time
Robert Pattinson is barely recongisable from his 'Twilight' days. He plays a loser struggling to get by with his mentally challenged brother. Out of desperation, they rob a bank and Pattinson's sibling ends up getting caught and then beaten up in prison. He is then transferred to hospital under armed guard and Pattinson tries to smuggle him out as he can't afford the bail/bond money. Due to the bandages wrapped around the injured man's face, Pattinson ends up taking someone else and not his brother from the hospital. From then on, you guessed it, it goes from bad to worse.

What a film.
Any doubters of Rpatz Dark Knight credentials should start here and work on his other excellent non-sparkly-vampire fodder. What a film this is. And what a star.

Robert Paterson and the Safdie brothers in top form.
Robert Paterson and the Safdie brothers in top form. Excellently shot, and paced, beautifully lit and well acted. Sits perfectly within the A24 universe.

Good Time
"Some day, I swear, we're gonna go to a place where we can do everything we want to. The pure always act from love. The damned always act from love.
