Still The Best Crew Socks Available ...
"Champion High Performance Crew Socks" are the only athletic socks my picky spouse will wear. Having formerly purchased these at the big box warehouses where they are no longer available, it was a relief to find them on Amazon. These socks have the highest per cent cotton content of any mass-marketed, reasonably priced crew sock currently being sold. This is an important feature for individuals who may have sweaty feet or who may be sensitive to socks having a high synthetic fiber content. The toe seams are not prominent and there is no "knot" where the gray and white sections are joined; this helps prevent irritation and blisters. The cushion is one of the nicest features of "Champion High Performance Crew Socks"; it makes these socks quite comfortable for the wearer. These crew socks measure approximately 11" from the heel bottom to the top edge. The elastic around the top is about 5/8" wide; in previous iterations of these socks, the elastic maintained its stretch through multiple regular-cycle washings in warm water and normal-temperature drying cycles. If you are in need of a well-made, cotton rich crew sock I recommend you try "Champion High Performance Crew Socks".UPDATE, February 17, 2014: These socks were $10.40 per package when I purchased them from Amazon Partner, NY Lingerie. I noticed the price increase on February 13, but am unsure of the date the cost for these socks increased.

Although they're not perfect, they're still my favorite socks
These are super thick, and tight, and great in the winter, but they're a bit too long (they come-up to my knees), and while I like the tightness of the sock when I'm working-out, I have to take these off, because they're very tight. So, if you have skinny, long legs, you'll probably love these, but if you're shorter and somewhat stockier, like me, they can get uncomfortable after a while. I bought these, and the size that's just supposed to go over the calf, and damn if I can tell them apart when sorting my laundry. Once I put them on, it's very obvious when I have one long one, and one shorter one. The slightly shorter size is perfection. These are just a bit too long (and I hope I'm not posting this on the wrong one). Either way, the socks have great elastic, and no rough seams over your toes, like so many other brands that I have tossed in the garbage. The thickness of the socks also provides nice padding for the bottoms of your feet, so although they're not perfect, they're still my favorite socks, and the quality is very good.

Comparative Review: Champion High Performance vs. PowerSox Coolmax
This is a double, comparative review. After reading a bunch of sock reviews, I discovered that they all claim similar features yet are made of different materials. So I finally settled on these Champion High Performance socks and the PowerSox Men's Coolmax Crew 3 Pack  for a test. I decided to buy them both and compare, wearing them alternately every day. Both of these socks seemed to be high quality at about $3/pair, both claimed to wick away moisture, and both claimed to be comfortable. How would they stack up?Well...here are the results...both are excellent and yet different!! The Champions were the most comfortable. The extra cushioning they claim is legit. It almost feels like you're wearing slippers. The PowerSox, on the other hand, were the most wicking. My feet can get pretty moist after a day in socks, and when I pulled these off at night my feet were dry. I actually love wearing socks, so I'll be very happy to put either of these pairs on on a daily basis. As a follow up, I tried buying both of these socks at a local store, seeing a lower price and thinking I was getting a great deal. Wrong! The store models were the step down for both of these...regular Champion and regular PowerSox. I've worn them both and they're nice, but not nearly as nice as the top-of-the-line models of this review. I'll still wear them, but now I know that there's a noticeable increase in quality from $2/pair to $3/pair. In the future I'll be buying the higher quality socks...both the Champion High Performance and PowerSox Coolmax.

Fantastic socks and a big surprise!
I didn't expect an upgrade! I'm very pleased with the three pack of Double Dry High Performance Men's Crew socks which are listed at $10.40 per pair rather than the standard High Performance Crew socks ,which I ordered for $10.40 for the three pack. I am very pleased with the service in ordering, shipping and the outstanding quality of the socks. This was a reorder and I was very surprised and pleased with the substitution. It may be that inventory was low on the socks I ordered so I was given an upgrade, for which I am grateful! Cool, dry, cushioned feet in this hot weather, what more could I ask.

these are hands down the best for fit and comfort
Way too soon for a formal review of durability, but out of the 3 brands bought at the same time, these are hands down the best for fit and comfort.I also purchased Dickies Dri tech Comfort Crews and the Carhart Men's Cotton Crew Work Socks.I am going to give the Carhart product the benefit of the doubt, because the fit is good and they are comfortable, but the material seems a little on the thin side to last. The fit on the Dickies is disappointing, reminds me of those old school "one size fits all" tube socks. So far, if you work your feet hard all day (in my case either in Justin work boots, or Whites), I vote Champion.

At first disappointed - But not anymore
I purchased these socks expecting the same thickness and cushioning and great quality as those that I purchased a few years ago. However, they are not the same!I thought that may be these may be a mid range quality product and that I had made a mistake, but checking the manufacturer's web site, the upc code matched their current top of the line product. Apparently, they just lowered the bar.So these are OK. But if you were expecting what they used to be, you'll be disappointed as well.REVISION ************* Since writing the review above (July 2013) I have really come around and now appreciate how well made these socks are. They have been very comfortable and more durable than the older style. I have revised my star rating.
