We have been using the beetle jails in our apiary for some time. They’re great and easily hang over the frames. The design locks in the apple cider vinegar in the middle to attract the bees and makes the canola oil traps easily accessible for the bees to drive the small hive beetles into them. They’re also relatively easy to clean so they can be reused.

These work better than my old style oil traps.Pros:1) They work! I filled the center compartment with Apple Cider Vinegar and cooking oil in the sides.2) Nice design clips to standard frame top bar so they don't fall when you are sliding frames.3) Baiting them makes a big difference and they are clear so you can easily see if you have beetles in there without pulling it.Cons:1) The little arms snap off after a while2) They are too wide for standard langstroth frame spacing, so frames need to be spread an extra 1/32nd of an inch apart.3) Bees are propalizing the entrance holes on these, but not the old style oil traps.

I put this in my hive with a little bit of pollen from a pollen patty and within two days I had already caught around 7 small hive Beatles

This product works very nice, I can re used, just wash it and start all over again.

In one week all my traps had many beetles. I have use the other style that do not allow you to clean out as easy as these. I prefer this style. I hate small hive beetles.

Exactly what I needed

Pollen Patty piece in middle, cooking oil in the sides works great for SHB. So cheap there’s no reason not to buy. Caution: be sure to remove oil bated trap before inspecting your hive. The oil will spill out and kill bees.
