Fine Biography of Machig Labdron
Here’s the text that’s often quoted authoritatively on the life of Machig Labdron. First published in 1996, it’s stood the test of time and delivers on its title, laying out the life of Machig Labdron and the foundations of Chod. What it isn’t is a practice book, nor does it, other than incidentally, lay out the teachings of Chod. Only Machig’s last instructions are detailed in a final chapter, but they are six pages of poetic beauty. For that best on practice and teaxhings turn to Chod Practice Manual and Commentary or Chod in the Ganden Tradition and the more recent Machik's Complete Explanation or perhaps Feeding Your Demons. The numbers of books in this area isn’t extensive, but the coverage is excellent.

Excellent Bio of Machig and info on Chod
I'm loving this. I know very little about Buddhism or Chod, and I'm finding out a lot here. I don't know whether this is a definitive book, but it contains everything I need to know at this point (so far). It's a bit scholarly and boggy, but is holding my interest, too.

Good reading for Shamanic Practitioners and Tibetan Buddhist Practitioners
I practices Tsok for many years without fully understanding the ceremonies - this book is a wondrerful and clear explanation of Chod and a must for all western practitioners of tibetan buddhism. It is also good reading for shamanic practioners who have adopted the Chod ceremony into their practice.

Wonderful book on chad and Mahamudra
This is a wonderful book, clearly written and well researched yet able to impart the mystery of Chod. This book taught me more about emptiness than any other book I have read, including the mulamadyamika byNagarjuna>Not for beginners but a fabulous book.

Multiple orthographic errors in Kindle Edition
This is a wonderful book, even though the translation is a little dated now. However, the Kindle Edition appears not to have been proofread at all and is riddled with orthographic errors. DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE EDITION OF THIS BOOK.

a well informed and well written guidebook to the history and background of Chod
Mr Edou is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all aspect of the Chod tradition, not just Machig Labdrons "Chod of Mahamudra" he follows the history for chod paractices back to India and provides excellent reference and source material for further study by the reader, this is a very well researched and written book but which is more of a commentary on rather than a practice manual for Chod practice, it looks at chod from the sutric, tantric and the combination of both lineages, and shows the transmission history for those lineages, and gives you back ground and historic stories of all those involved in the propagation of Chod practices into tibet.a very informative read..highly recommended

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do
If you have practised Phyllis Kristal 'Cutting the ties that bind' (method) in full for years, this is the next logical step inward or forward.Barely scratching the surface of the content of this book, I'm very impressed by Mr. Edou's method to clarify the FOUNDATIONS of Chöd. Anyone who is interested in getting rid of his/her God-Demons in order to get closer to a more egoless self, should start with this book. And after that you might turn to Allione and others.Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.Cheers.
