Cool cel phone accessory for nostalgic 'Boomers'
Just the look I get from strangers on the street as I pass them while talking on this is worth the price alone! For those old enough to remember rotary and push button phones with this type of receiver, this is a fun and quirky device to connect to a regular cel phone. I actually keep my cel in my pocket (or fanny pack) while connected to it. The audio is clear and it has controls to allow you to answer without touching your cel. A great gadget that combines the 'old' with the 'new' for 'nostalgic boomers' and those with a love of phone tech from the past.

Fun little novelty headset
Let's you make calls like its 1939 on modern phones. Uses a standard 3.5mm TRRS connection to connect to anything that has a headphone/mic 3.5mm connector. Volume control has 3 settings, hard to hear, normal talking volume, and PLAY IT LOUDER MAN. Fun little novelty, but it makes me appreciate how nice handsfree headphones are after about 20 minutes.

Works with my super-cheap phone from MetroPCS
Call quality is good. I hear them clearly, they hear me clearly. This is on a cheap $30 Alcatel phone from MetroPCS. The only problem I have with this product is the cord. It isn't like a real handset cord on an old phone. The one it comes with is much weaker, and it is tubular instead of flat. It's more like the kind of cord you'd get with a fat pair of stereo headphones. After the first use its coils are already starting to stretch out of shape. If I jostle around too much when using it, I get crackling on the line. So I don't expect this to last nearly as long as a cord on a real telephone.Overall, though, I'm pretty satisfied with the quality at the price I got it for.

Poor sound quality - just about worthless
Great volume and nice weight in your hand. But very poor sound quality - snaps, crackles and lots of weird sounds like squawking birds. Very distracting. Even makes noise when just listening to music so can’t blame it on poor cell connection.

It's everything I hoped it would be.
I got this for a few reasons and it's working for them all. 1) I sometimes feel like I can't make my cell phone loud enough and adding this gives me additional volume. 2) I don't like the way it feels using a flat cell phone for long conversations and getting makeup on the screen. 3) When I am on my phone and need to see something else (calendar, email, etc) on my phone at the same time, I don't like putting it on speaker. My kids make fun of me because it looks so old-fashioned, but it works great for me since I work from home and no longer use a landline. I love it!

Nice but not iPhone friendly.
This concept is cool and always a topic for conversation and laughs !However, it does not work great with iPhones. The button does not do anything unlike other similar products where the button activates Siri or can make calls or hangup. The volume of the earpiece is also very low even with the settings on high.It would be nice if the product came with a holder that can be fixed on a car dash, or on a desk.

Old School with a twist!
I bought the handset a several years ago (which I still have) and everywhere I went people were fascinated with the old-school charm. For me, it served a great purpose because I didn't like putting my face to the phone and I didn't like using my speaker for everyone to hear my conversation. I was disappointed that it didn't fit my new phone when I got an upgrade, but I still have it and I'm waiting to purchase one that will fit my present phone.

If only it worked as good as it looked
Being the fourth Retro Handset I've purchased, I thought being a VTech product would come with the quality I've experienced from their other products. The phone arrived in a nice retail package and as it was a Christmas gift for my Mother, that made for not only easier wrapping, but a much nicer gift opening experience. The phone had easy to distinguish buttons and was finished in a nice glossy plastic, a feature I thought would make it last longer than all the other retro handsets which have a matte finish which peels off after a year or so. Once opened my Mom did comment that the phone had a very comfortable balance of weight, but that was the last nice thing to be said about the VTech Retro Handset. Attempting to make an receive calls was met with heavy sound cut out and the "call/end" button was non functional. Plugging it into my phone, incoming calls were automatically disconnected on the second ring at which time the handset engaged the music player. The "call/end" button did not function on my phone either and the handset was boxed up so quickly to be returned I didn't even have time to take any photos of it out of the box. For what it's worth though, the photos depict the phones appearance much more accurately than the item description depicts the products quality.
