Lonely Planet Guides are must haves for travel.
The Lonely Planet Travel Guides are always extremely helpful in planning a meaningful experience when traveling. We purchased The Lonely Planet NORWAY because we found the FINLAND guide fantastic. These guides give you an easy way to plan the most important things to see and do. You get a great list of sights, museums, restaurants and hotels with descriptions and approximate costs in which to helo you make informed decisions. The Lonely Planet Guide NORWAY was a WINNER.

Norway is a very different travel experience from the more popular countries in Europe. The country itself is, perhaps, the main attraction to tourists. This guide gives you a fundamental understanding of some of the basic options you have to see the natural elements of Norway. This is unlike an action-packed guide like other countries full of activities and museums manufactured for humans engaging in the tourist industry. It is harder to create a self-guided experience uniquely tailored to your needs with this guide. Also, Norway is one of the most expensive countries you can go in the world. So, it is hard to create a budget trip like you can with other Lonely Planet guides.

I travel frequently for pleasure and for work. I made a visit back to Norway, where my fathers family hail from. I wanted to explore other areas of Norway I hadn't been. This book was a very good resource! Well written and easy to navigate (no pun intended). I would...and have recommended it.

... through Norway and had bought this guide as a nice primer to plan the trip
I just got back from a two week roadtrip through Norway and had bought this guide as a nice primer to plan the trip. It was a great idea! But once you're actually in the country you realize that some of the listed information isn't accurate, some of the restaurants or businesses have been closed a good while (years in some cases), some places are tourist traps, and some of the historic towns and sights that we passed on the road weren't listed in the book at all. We ended up skipping on Norwegian SIM cards for our phones since we had GPS in the car and this guide book... but we quickly realized it was best to just do some research when we found wifi and screenshot business info for later.I had high hopes for the book but will be going with a different guide for my next trip abroad. I will be sending them an email directly with some of my complaints as well.

Good, saved me paying for excursions!
I liked it, and it worked pretty well. I took a cruise by the fjords and it saved me a lot to have this instead of buying the super expensive tours that they sold in the cruise. However, I did have only one problem with one of the stops, where it was suggested to take a train along the trollstingen... and it had only two times a day which really bummed me out. On the rest, info is quite detailed and maps are good to do it on your own.

An organized, comprehensive guide
This is the second Lonely Planet guide that I have purchased. They are well organized and packed full of information including attractions, of course, as well as general info such as using a credit card or purchasing gas.
