ValeoService 52151203 Solid Flywheel Conversion Kit Compatible with Select Mini Cooper Models, 2002-2008

I installed this on my car and have helped install on several other MINI Coopers and everyone loves it!Light pedal feel, smooth engagement and no more Chewbacca dual max flywheel chatter.The flywheel is approximately two pounds lighter than stock. Car remains very drivable but does feel just a bit more agile.No issues installing on cars making up to 250HP.I've had no problems with packaging or missing/broken parts. This is a great replacement for the OEM setup.Nobody paid me to write this, I just think this is a great aftermarket clutch option and an excellent choice for the MINI.Note - this part fits 2002-2006 MINI Cooper S and 2004-2008 MINI Cooper S convertible. (R52, R53). It doesn't fit the base non-Cooper S - they have totally different flywheels, throwout bearings and input shafts.I made a video on how to install a clutch/flywheel in a First generation MINI Cooper S. The Valeo clutch I received from from the Valeo store on Amazon was shipped with no packing material and the box was almost destroyed, so all the parts were scratched, and several bolts were missing. I contacted Valeo via email, explaining the problem and asking them to send the missing bolts. After not hearing back for a week, I called their customer service but couldn't get through for several hours. When I finally did, they wouldn't replace the bolts, saying I have to buy them. I've never had such horrible service for a not-inexpensive product.

Doing this job yourself is not for the faint of heart but it isnt that tough either. There is a guy on youtube that put together a very detailed 2 part do it yourself video that was very helpful. he goes under the channel "Mod mini". I did mine over the course of three days and did it on my own. This kit is excellent and I couldn't be happier with the way the clutch feels! My parts arrived properly packaged and they were correct. The clutch alignment tool is not needed because my Mini and most dont have a "pilot hole" so i don't know why some would complain about that. Awesome clutch, recommended for all. Sadly I didn't get to put 10k on it someone hit my car and totaled it. But other wise. I abused this clutch badly, I will mention the throw out bearing did make some noise after a few thousand miles maybe 5k it started to rattle and clunk when letting off the clutch slowly.

I hope someone from the manufacturer reads these reviews. I did before purchasing this, and read about some packaging issues, but didn't expect it would be this bad. The product seems OK, if a little dinged up on arrival. The packaging is just totally unacceptable. Literally, the four parts that come with the kit are just kind of randomly piled in a box that is not much thicker than a cereal box, no dividers between them, no padding, nothing to keep them from sliding around and banging each other up. Bolts just sliding around in the bottom of the box, and a little wad of kraft paper on the top. The damage seems to be mostly cosmetic in my case, and I don't really care what clutch looks like, but it really doesn't inspire confidence in a manufacturer when their product arrives looking all beat up.UPDATE: When I went to install this item, I found that half the bolts were missing and one of the locator studs on the flywheel was snapped off. I'm returning this and going with another brand.

8 months of use and its holding up like a champ. I drive about 2500-3000 miles a month with half of it highway and the other half in hilly city. Im not feeling any wear and tear and it is preforming great.2004 Mini Cooper S.Caveat: I had a shop install it for me. I cant comment on the installation.

I'm very please with the performance of this kit, although it has only been a few days. My main complaint is the same as several others. I realize this is a big heavy chunk of metal, but the box was really beat up when I received it. The other really big complain I have is that the wrong clutch alignment tool was sent in the kit...the splines on the tool were completely different than the clutch/trans making the tool useless. Thankfully, the Mini cooper does not use a pilot bearing setup, so I was able to center the friction disk just by feeling around the edges of the pressure plate with my fingers. It's only a few extra dollars to oder this kit from one of the well known performance vendors and based on these few things, I'd probably go that route next time.Tip: If you are going through the trouble of replacing the clutch, make sure you install a new rear main seal as well as the throw out bearing guide tube and clutch fork bushings.

I recently got my 03 MCS, drove it 5 months then throw out bearing broke. I decided to give this Valeo kit a shot based on recommendation from MOD Mini. I'm not totally disappointed because the parts are high quality and a big improvement over stock setup. However I received my package both missing parts and damaged. I included pics, one of the flywheel bolts was missing and the clutch plate had little chunks missing from being knocked around, also one of the tabs on the flywheel to secure the pressure plate was broken during shipping. I cant comment on driveability as yet as I'm changing other parts.
