Minions: The Junior Novel Paperback – May 19, 2015

My husband ordered this book accidentally thinking it was a coloring book for some reason. We thought about sending it back but I am so glad that we did not. My three year old and almost 2 year old are fans of the Minion movie. My kids actually sat and listened to 2 chapters a night. The book is easy to read, fun, and the chapters are short enough to keep my small children's attention. I recommended this book already to several friends. Now, there are some mistakes in the book that my 3 year old pointed out. Off the top of my head I cannot think of what they were but she made sure to speak up if something happened differently in the book than the movie. It's because of this book that I have actually branched off and purchased short chapter books like this one to read to them before bed.

Great book! I purchased this one as part of my daughter's friends 8th birthday gift. It was so hard to keep my daughter away from it. So I had to buy one for her too! It is a funny book and just what you would expect from the Minions. Hours of reading fun and I have seen her pick it up and start to re-read it! Can't ask for anything more!

I bought this book for my son for Christmas. He's a HUGE minions fan and told me he wanted a chapter book about the minions. This book is cute and includes color pictures.

The story of the Minions begins at the dawn of time. They started as single-celled yellow organisms and evolved through the ages trying to serve the most despicable masters they could find. Despite their best efforts they are never able to keep their masters safe and find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression. One Minion named Kevin has a plan, and with his rebel friends, Stuart and Bob, they venture out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. The trio embark on a thrilling journey that leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill, the world’s first female super villain. They know they have to do this in order to save Minion kind from annihilation. They have to trust each other and do what needs to be done no matter the consequences.A fun tale that follows the secret stars of Despicable Me. The Minions held the story together and now have their own. This is written in a way that the youngest readers can enjoy the story and be ready for the movie if they haven’t seen it or even if they have they can read together with a parent and talk about the story. With illustrations to accompany each chapter and pictures from the movie it is a great way to get kids into reading. In this day and age that is something that is becoming more and more difficult. With books that accompany these movies it is an easy way to help them read something that will be interesting to them.The minions can be annoying at times but they are cute and the book portrays what it needs to that goes along with the movie. Overall a great read and something enjoyable to do with your little ones.

Bought this as a gift for my son. He is a HUGE Minion fan. He is becoming quite the reader for his age. This bok was perfect for him. He can easily read it and loves looking at the pictures.

8 year old loves this book

Picked this up at the book fair after previewing several chapters and the illustrations. This book is written at a level for one age group with content that is clearly inappropriate for that same age group. It begins hilarious (in the eyes of a kid) and ridiculous but by the end of the book is filled with inappropriate descriptions, content and rage. Got to chapter 10 then threw it in the garbage...I wouldn't even give it away!

Enjoyed,as will some lucky kid-saw movie,bought book for ER waiting room for kid unfortunate to be there as visitor or patient.

My kids and especially, daughter loves reading. She finished the book within hours of receiving. Then she read it again after a few days. Books like these are great to get children to read and learn new vocabulary.

Klasse Buch ist leicht zu lesen und doch mal was anderes als es auf deutsch zu lesen richtig gut geschrieben.

洋書ですが、元々低年齢向けなのでそこそこ頑張れば日本人でもまあ、読めます。ミニオン達のセリフがちゃんと文字に起こされている部分があって、ファンとしてはとても参考になります。センターにカラーページがあるのと、モノクロの本文にもちょこちょこ挿絵としてキャラクターの画像が挿入されていて、アクティビティブック関係が大多数を占めるミニオンズ関係の洋書では結構お勧め度高いです。英語が苦手な学生さんも、ミニオンのお話を読むために辞書を引くなら勉強にも役立つのではと思います。

We have a big minion fan and a big reader here, but the novel isn't a hit with any of us.

Chapter 3 (32%) features a derogatory insult (in grammatically correct Spanish) towards one of the few female characters in the book. Otherwise a great story and my children enjoyed it.
