It's good but doesn't really help.
It taught me stuff about history that I did not previously know, but it did not help much for the praxis.

almost textbook like work book
When I first ordered the book, I had in mind a big, thick, almost textbook like work book. When the book arrived, I was surprised by the smaller amount of pages inside then expected. Since the exam covers so much material, I was expecting a thicker book. So far, just from flipping through the pages the workbook seems very helpful. If I could change one thing about the book it would be to include more practice problems. However, I really enjoyed the detailed answer key. I was pleasantly surprised by this because most workbooks will just list the letter answers and you do not really learn why that is the correct answer. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase.

A MUST FOR THE PRAXIS II SOCIAL STUDIES
This is not b/s review from guy from the company paid to write this a legit struggling Praxis test taker who used this bad boy to pass. I'm not dumb by any means but I continued to struggle with this test. I was getting 153's 155's. I took this test 3 times before buying this book. It raised me about 6 points on this book alone. It's a great refresher and it's an even better study guide. I have found this to be the best study guide out there. You can look off cram or quizlet and you can study from there but this made me pass the Praxis II. I could not be more thankful for this book and believe me I was struggling on this test. It also gives you tips on test taking which is huge when you're not good at taking these types of tests. Get this book, and study it for about 2-3 weeks. I studied it for 2 1/2 weeks and passed. Great resource.

Solid Start
I received my study materials recently and have just dove into studying. I have found that the format was easy to follow. I like the explanations and highlights it gives. I think that my favorite part is the links to the videos that explain the information provided. These videos also go into greater detail, which for obvious reasons is helpful for understanding the material. I have not taken the test yet but have learned a large amount just off of the small amount of studying that I have completed. I also enjoy the fact that they're is a practice test to help me focus on where I need to study and validates what I have learned.

It does help
This book got the best reviews out of all the study guides, so I figured I'd buy it. It didn't necessarily have any information that I didn't know already, but it was a great refresher. I didn't like that the practice test didn't give me any kind of indication of how well I was going to do on the real test, but it was a decent preparation tool. I would HIGHLY recommend reading this, taking the practice test, and then taking the actual PRAXIS II practice test. In the end, I passed and I know this book helped.

Great Book!
I felt the book has been very helpful. It is good that the book starts from guiding your studying and telling you how to prepare all the way to test taking strategies. The study materials on the specific topics are helpful as well. I only wish there was a bit more practice test at the end. I feel that for a 2 hour test the more practice you can get the better off you are.

this is a pretty solid overview of all subject areas
If you are studying for this exam, this is a pretty solid overview of all subject areas. If you are focused on studying economics, there is only a brief overview of economic principles and not much help in explaining concepts or examples such as supply and demand. DO NOT BUY JUST FOR THE PRACTICE TEST- I found that their practice exam does not resemble the types of questions at all ( in terms of phrasing, not content). If you want a practice test I recommend buying the ones online straight from the praxis maker ETS.

A worthwhile investment, but nothing amazing.
I skimmed this for a few days before I took the test for the first time and ended up passing with excellence after having been out of school for over a decade, so I guess it's pretty good. It's a good review of everything in all five categories, but I found that most of it wasn't really on the test. The economics and behavioral science sections make the book worth it. I watched a few videos (which were on YouTube for free, also) which were pretty worthless, as well as the "tips" the book gives.
