No large vegetables per se
No big veggies but what can you expect out of a soup can? Very flavorful although I did add 7 Chile de Arbol for the spice level I like. It needs a lot more. I will use 2 cans along with some dal, okra, bigger carrots and some mustard seeds. The taste is AWESOME!!! I can doctor it up and will!

Tasty, easy to prepare
Add some cooked chicken for additional protein if you want, meal for two in one can. Otherwise the lentil soup is very tasty by itself. I know you are thinking $5 a can for soup! But this really dense and you have to add water to it. This soup is not a major brand which are mostly just water with few noodles and little bits of veggies and salt. Package arrived fine, no dents or other damage.

Very tasty without all the calories
I have lost thirty to fifty lbs and use this food on a couple small mission wraps that I heat in frying pan and pour over. It’s a low calorie meal that I have grown accustomed to and just ordered another case on Amazon

DELICIOUS, AUTHENTIC, EASY!!!!
This is a really delicious and healthy sambar. I love having a few cans in the pantry so I have something easy to "prepare" in a pinch. I make a pretty decent sambar myself. This one tastes a bit different - people have their own recipes - but it is truly delicious. It's perfectly seasoned. You can eat it with rice, bread, or by itself in a bowl - it doesn't need anything. I highly recommend this. It really does not taste like something that came out of a can. Thank you, Jyoti!!!!:)

Dented cans and disgusting food
This food is totally disgusting. Do not buy it. The cans are all dented. Everyone knows dented cans are bad for your health and the food is absolutely horrible. I had to return them all to Amazon. Disgusting.

You will smell like Urine!!!!
Madras Sambar from Jyoti is really tasty stuff. Its made of special a type of lentil and eggplant which gives it its unique tang taste. The taste is acquired and i loved the Madras sambar when i had it in childhood the first and only time with rice cake idlis.I have been craving it ever since but never could reproduce the same taste in several sambar dishes i tried till now. Very Good with rice foods! The bad part of this particular product is if you have a little too much, say 1 whole can in a day, the thing will digest and produce ammonia or ammonia smelling thing. I think it comes out through sweat glands. You know what that will remind you of ? Urine!! lol. So have this in medium amounts only in my opinion.

Sambar Lover
I've been having this for years. Sambar, I think, is not supposed to be a main course. All the sambar I've had in restaurants were sort of watery... at least very thin. I add things to my Sambar, however. I've added a large can of green peas, with a 2oz of couscous or rice. Usually I add a can of Progresso vegetable soup. (When I add a can of soup, I don't also add a can of water) This makes 3 servings for me (with couscous or rice + crackers.) Oh, I also sprinkle a bunch of turmeric in my bowl of soup, and black pepper (to aid in absorption). Same thing with the Dal Makhani. I eat hese two soups regularly, once ever couple of weeks. I buy it by the case.

The first disappointment for me from Jyoti
As someone who loves Indian/Bangladeshi food, I have been trying various JYOTI foods, given the good reviews here on amazon.Well, this is the third item I tried and I didn't even finish my serving. I found a rather offputting flavor in the stew/soup. Maybe it's the tamarind. Not sure. (And I say this as someone from the Caribbean who used to eat tamarind sno cones and as of last year had some homemade tamarind honeyed-juice my sister made--she has a tamarind tree. I'm not anti-tamarind.)Whatever it was, this was not like ANY lentils or lentil stew or lentil soup I've had in assorted Indian restaurants in the last 30 years. It tasted overly earthy and odd. Maybe I just got a bad batch. Dunno. But I wish I could be as enthusiastic and give a thumbs up like the others here. I do. But I can't. I really didn't love this.I'm gonna open another can later on and try again. But this has been the one major letdown for me from Jyoti. I almost made this one star, but since I give room to the fact that the problem may lie with a batch or with something askew in the can I opened, I'll leave it at two stars. Now, I'm afraid to try another Jyoti from amazon. I may head to my local Indian supermarket and see if they have the saag and try one can. After this experience, I won't pay for a whole case again. Bummer.
