One disc rhythm, One disc Blues & One Buddy Guy.
Buddy Guy is the King of Chicago Blues & here is the proof. Buddy just turned 77 years old today & shows no signs of slowing down with his first 2 cd album. I grew up in Chicago & spent lot's of my free time at his place Legends & have met the man & even sat down next to him at his bar & had beers with him. Super nice man he is not to big to hang out with his fans & can play his heart out. This album is a statement that he is 77 years old & i think he just put out his best album ever. The songs are well thought out & put together. The production is tight & he is playing some of the best guitar i have ever heard him do on a studio album. Just to name a few highlights justifyin,What's up with that women. The Devils daughter & whiskey Ghost are just very cool slow blues. & thats just a few off the first disc. Some of his past studio albums just didn't capture his live guitar sound & this one does. This is exactly how he sounds live. on this set you have a few collaborations & everyone of those are awesome with Kid Rock,Keith Urban,Beth Hart,Steven Tyler, Joe Perry & Brad Whitford,Gary Clark, Jr. The album is so good it leaves me saying How does he do it? If you have ever liked anything this man has done this is the album you should be buying & adding to your collection. I think it is his best album yet.One disc rhythm, One disc Blues & One Buddy Guy. What more could anyone ask for.

ANOTHER GOOD ONE FROM THE REIGNING KING OF URBAN BLUES
BG, guit, voc; others incl. guests Kid Rock (voc), Beth Hart (voc), Keith Urban (voc, guit), and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler (voc), Joe Perry and Brad Whitford (guit), and Gary Clark, Jr. (voc, guit).Chicago Blues legend Buddy Guy was seventy-six when he recorded this double album. It's not like he needed another album, with six Grammy awards to his name and a 2012 Kennedy Center honoree, but boy, can he still do it! Backed by a killer house band with guitar, bass, drums and either Hammond B3, Wurlitzer or piano keyboard-the organ splashes in the background are phenomenal!-and featuring collaborations with rock, rap and C&W-alt rock stars Kid Rock (good), Beth Hart (okay), Keith Urban (okay), Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford (bad vocal, good guitar), and Gary Clark, Jr. (not bad). But Guy himself is a solid blues singer and a standout guitarist, and the songs kick, so who cares if I have to listen to Steven Tyler mangle his vocal? This album won't replace Damn Right I've Got the Blues (1991) or Sweet Tea (2001) on my Buddy Guy play list but it's another solid, exciting effort by the reigning king of urban blues. Get it on!

Buddy Guy - One Of The Best Blues / Rock Albums Of 2013
It should be an inspiration to everyone how Buddy Guy continues to put out great music well into his senior citizen years. In fact as I have stated in other reviews in my opinion, in the last decade or so, Buddy has put out some of the best material of his entire lengthy career. The man’s guitar can still rip as well as any of his younger contemporaries and his voice has held up remarkably well. His songwriting has never been better, and anyone who has seen him live lately can attest that he still has energy to burn. “Rhythm & Blues” is yet another excellent Buddy Guy collection and one of the best blues / rock albums of 2013. The double CD is split into two distinct genres with the first disc being Rhythm (soul inflected blues rock), and the 2nd disc “Blues” which is more traditional in it’s approach. Both feature plenty scorching guitar solos. There are several special guests on this one with Kid Rock working especially well on “Messing With The Kid” and “What You Gonna Do About Me” with Beth Hart. These days it is difficult for an artist to pull off a single 70 minute album much less a double one, but Buddy pulls it off. Great stuff and a must purchase if you are a fan of Guy or rocking blues.

Still rockin'
As a blues fan of some 45 years I've been a fan of Buddy Guy a long time. He's always had his own style but for a long time had to play second fiddle to giants of the Chicago blues scene like Muddy Waters. He's continued to develop, learn and expand his sound all the while, now well into his 70s. Whilst not the world's greatest singer, his vocals are always honest and heartfelt and his lyrics truly drawn from life. His guitar sounds always captivate and excite and on this sensational double album he's attained new heights. With a terrific band and a production team that clearly understand the blues and Buddy's style, this collection makes spellbinding listening for any Chicago blues fan. Buddy can do what is in effect a romantic ballad but still make a blues...and he can also blister the paint with biting, swirling, caustic guitar on a rocker. The band is tight and swings throughout. "Rhythm" : watch out, Buddy's comin' at yer! - "Blues": it's for 3am and nestling a bourbon...

Damn Fine Album
Decide to check this out after hearing What You Gonna Do About Me, which features Beth Hart, recently on Planet Rock.Great set of tunes from Mr Guy, which also includes appearances from Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Steven Tyler, and Gary Clark Jr.Well worth a listen……

As good or better than his other recent albums
This is another very good release from Buddy Guy, and easily as good as Living Proof, Skin Deep and others. The split between Rhythm an Blues on the two CD's is somewhat artificial, and most tracks would be equally at home on either disc. The guest appearances are of differing value; Kid Rock adds nothing on Messing With The Kid whereas Stephen Tyler's vocals on Evil Twin provide a distinctive and convincing counterpoint to Buddy's . One of the album's strengths is in the production which is full and punchy, and far better than on an album such as Sweet Tea. BG's singing and playing remain as strong as ever... all in all a very satisfying addition to his catalogue..

WHAT A GUY!
I was in Chicago for the Ryder Cup back in September 2012 and made a point of visiting Buddy Guy's Legends night club on the Monday afterwards. What a great place it is, not that big just nice and very friendly. The evening I went was an 'all comers' night with solo's bands and jamming..wow just how cool to experience this on my first visit to this great City. The girl behind the bar said I may be lucky tonight as the great man himself could be in, if so he'll be sitting in the corner with a white flat cap, sure enough later on he was there and he was gracious enough to have a long chat with me the Englishman, signing his Autobiography for me.I have just bought this album, haven't listened to disc two yet as one is on repeat and still going, absolutely fab! Looking forward to hearing the track with Gary Clark Jnr soon.
