I find the whole concept of this product wonderful, its features are just what I wanted
Because I bought 2 different brands of power failure light, both are described here, though this is a review for the Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Lights 2 Pack. I wanted 2 brands to maximize the odds that at least one of them would work after a year or so. I refer to the other brand only as a comparison to the Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Lights 2 Pack.Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Lights 2 Pack & ACDelco Tools RL435 Li-Ion 4V Plug-In Power Outage LED Light with Rechargeable Battery, 2-PackEco-Lite 4 Function LED Lights 2 PackI received the units on 08/20/2014; straight out of the package, 1 worked fully, the flashlight function of the others did not work until several minutes in the changer. Both are now charging & will continue until 24 hours have passed. I was surprised at the light weight of these units, it suggested cheapness; though by no means does it prove cheapness. Their construction is solid, no signs of any defects. The instruction sheets (1 for each unit) are bilingual, 11” tall, & about 6” wide; English on 1 side, & I assume Spanish on the other. 4 quarters of each side are: Limited warranty; features/initial set-up; operating instructions; & the FCC part that indicates it may interfere with radio reception, etc. As the AC outlets in my home are all of the orientation match that of plugs on these units default orientation, I did not bother to rotate the AC plugs, so I cannot comment on that feature. The units are now charging; there is no indicating whether they are charging or fully charged, as there is on the AC DELCO RL435. The instructions state that the initial charging time must be 24 hours, while thereafter, the charging time is 12 hours; yet, no indicator (as is featured on the AC DELCO unit) to tell if it has indeed been fully recharged. Both the eco-light night lights worked last night, both turned on only when it was dark, unlike others, that turn on when it is merely dim. Only the brightness of the night light function has 2 settings, there is no control over the initial brightness of the power failure light. When the power fails, it turns on all 10 LEDs, on the low setting, which is stated to last 15 hours. the high setting should drain the battery completely after 3 hours. I was surprised to see just how bright the low setting is, I do not want to look directly at it.The night light is angled downward, which in my bathroom, falls directly on the sink. The AC DELCO unit does not function as a night light. Now fully charged, I moved one unit to a switch-controlled wall outlet,I find the whole concept of this product wonderful, its features are just what I wanted. I would have bought 2 sets of 2, but because of more than a few poor reviews, I decided to buy just the one set of two units, along with one ACDelco Tools RL435 Li-Ion 4V Plug-In Power Outage LED Light with Rechargeable Battery, 2-Pack . These AC DELCO RL435 units worked fine straight out of the box, their LEDs burning red to indicate the charging condition. After 3 or 4 hours, they had both turned green to indicate fully charged. Now I will pull the plug on the power strip @ 3:11 PM & run them on high, which should work for 3 hours. immediately both units turned on high; that is, all LEDs are lit. In the dimness of the room with blinds shut, it is clearly irritating to look directly at the lights. at 6:10 PM, the brightness appears to be abut the same as it was when 1st entering power outage mode at 4 3/4 hours one unit had gone dark, while the other seemed as bright as ever. I unplugged the bright one & the other turned on for a few minutes. as both had been on the same power strip, it seems they may have been affected by each other. I have now plugged them in to separate circuits, with the status light of the one visible from my desk chair. I will note if it turns from red to green tonight. It likely took 8 hours to recharge, as the booklet indicated it would. One big problem the AC DELCO unit has, is that as a power outage light, it will only function on FULL-BRIGHTNESS when the power first fails. At this setting, it is said to drain its battery in about 3 hours; yet, if one is asleep when power fails, one might awaken, only to find the unit has already drained its battery. The Eco-Lite 4 Function LED, on the other hand, will turn on at the low-power/brightness setting, which is said to last for 15 hours, while its brightest setting will last for 3.The instructions for these AC DELCO units: there is only 1 booklet for the two units, yet, it is very detailed & only in English. Two 8 ½ by 11 sheets folded such that there are 8 pages, staples in middle. 1st inner page (1): Introduction, lists specifications, 7 items, including voltage (4V) number of LEDs (24), etc. General Safety Rules, which includes the fact that “Battery operated LED lights create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.” page (2): battery operated LED light use and care, 5 items listed; charging power outage LED light instructions; page (3): illustrations of front & back of unit; important charging notes; page (4)—continuation of; How to use power outage LED light, continues on page (5); Warranty on page (6). Back cover: customer service information. My home has very reliable AC power, & it had been a few years since we suffered a power outage. Yet, a few weeks ago (weeks earlier than 08/2014, we were left in the dark for about 3 ½ hours. I dislike the idea of groping around looking for a flashlight, so, I determined to buy some power failure lights. I saw several with attractive features, but limited myself to choosing from those which had no less than four star ratings, with no fewer than 100 ratings. While the Eco-lite has nearly 300 ratings, the AC DELCO has only 36; yet, it has only a single one star rating, & 31 5 star ratings, no 2 or 3 stars. Thus, I decided it was worth a shot.COMPARISON BETWEEN Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Light & AC DELCO RL435 ----------------------POWER OUTAGE PERFORMANCE-----------------------------------------------------Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Light_____AC DELCO RL435power outage brightness*~~~~~~~Low -------------------------- highBattery lasts (hours)~~~~~~~~~~~15-------------------------------3power failure light aimed at ~~~~ceiling------------------------wallLEDs lit~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~10/10---------------------------24/24LED intensity~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~low-----------------------------high*Brightness when unit automatically switches on when house current fails.-------------------------LOW POWER SETTING------------------------------------------------------Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Light_____AC DELCO RL435LED brightness~~~~~~~~~~~~~~.low-------------------------------high (only 1 brightness setting for individual LEDs)Battery lasts* (hours)~~~~~~~~~~~15--------------------------------8*rated to last that long.---------------------------NIGHT LIGHT---------------------------Only the Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Light has a night light-----------------------------------GENERAL--------------------------------------------------------------------Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Light_____AC DELCO RL435charging time (initial)~~~~~~~~24 hours----------------------not specifiedsubsequent charging~~~~~~~~12 hours-------------8 to 12 hours (until status LED turns green)----------------------------DOCUMENTATION----------------------------------------------------Eco-Lite 4 Function LED Light_____AC DELCO RL435pages~~~~~~~~1 sheet---------------------------------------8 pagessize~~~~~~~~~11” tall, & about 6” wide-------------------8 1/4 by 5 3/4languages~~~~~English & Spanish-------------------------EnglishIt has been over a year since I bought these units; only one of the AC DELCO RL435 is till working. Both the Eco-lights are fine. I just ran them both for about 2 hours on full intensity setting. While they should run for at least 3 hours, I prefer to avoid running the batteries all the way down, as this may shorten the life of the units. I have returned the Eco-lights to their charging bases, and ordered another set of 2. One unit is in my bathroom, and as I recall reading in their instructions that they are sensitive to moisture, I am quite happy that the humidity in the bathroom has apparently not damaged it. The bathroom is rather large, & during the summer I run the exhaust fan while showering, hoping to keep the unit from moisture. During the cold weather, I just turn on the vanity lights to keep that area a bit warmer to avoid moisture condensing there. Both of the new units work fine. I wish I had just bought 2 sets of 2 Eco-lights rather than 1 set of each brand.

Bought for power failure, but ended up as the "go to" flashlight
I bought this because I live in a city with an old electric infrastructure that loses power at the drop of a hat. I liked the idea that they are night lights under "normal" mode, but the flashlights come one as soon as their is a power failure, lighting up like bright white torches. The lights comfortably sit in the top outlet without blocking the bottom outlet at all. I also have one in the top of a 4-gang outlet, and none of the 3 other outlets are blocked either. I quickly discovered that whenever I needed a flashlight for something, these two were always the handiest to reach, so 99% of the time these are the only flashlights I use in the house now. I ended up buying a set for my brother, who lives in Hurricane Central. Then bought a set for my sister because she liked them so much when she came to visit me. Most recently, I bought a 4th set for my father who is elderly and oxygen dependent, so he can set it on the table and it gives off enough light for him to clearly see where he needs to go, find the telephone, etc.The first 2 sets I bought are an older version that do not have the lantern/worklight feature, and they don't have as many LEDs. However I have purchased the newer ones for my sister and father. These are slightly wider than my original ones, although they still do not block any neighboring outlets. They are also brighter, and the addition of the lantern mode is extremely helpful. When my father's power goes out, he relies on these (as opposed to candles which do not play well with oxygen). To me this is a safety issue and gives me piece of mind. All models use induction charging, which means there are no exposed connectors on either the flashlight or the charging base. If the flashlight base gets wet, it's no big deal cause you just wipe off the plastic. I cannot really comment on how long it takes to fully charge these lights, as they are always plugged in and thus fully charged at all times. What I *can* say, is that I have had my original ones for quite a few years (at least 5), and they are still holding up well. I also cannot say how long they last because I have never drained one all the way down. I would say I have easily used them for an hour or more at a time, so I think that is a pretty good charge life.

Interesting product
These are surprisingly sophisticated although I don't know how much that adds to their value. As a flashlight, it is very bright compared to the ones we replaced. But when lifted from the base it will not be on the brightest setting. You have to cycle thru the settings to get the brightest. I can understand using that setting for power failure mode but feel most people would prefer the initial setting for flashlight would be the brightest.I expected the nightlight function to be an on/off proposition but it actually varied in brightness as the ambient light fades. In a room with lights on a dimmer, as you slowly dim the lights, the night light slowly goes from off to full on (choice of setting for the maximum). There are two choices for the brightness of the nightlight but if even the dimmer of those is too bright for you, the light can be rotated 360 degrees to face any direction including back at the wall.Pictures appear to show possible interference with use of the second outlet and I suppose it would interfere with many power bricks but there is plenty of room for any cord plug. The base does rotate to accommodate outlets that are horizontal or vertical but the detents are not strong and could rotate if bumped. It would be nice if these were offered in different colors. The packaging is terrible. It's a thick plastic front and back sandwiched between cardboard. Hard to open and makes for grossly over-sized shipping boxes. It makes no sense to not offer these in cheap, compact, easy to open packages for on-line sales.

Great Emergency Light / Bad Nightlight
I had purchased a pair of an earlier version of Eco-i-Lites which I liked very much. So when I saw this updated model I purchased two 2-packs planning to use one pair for a gift and the second pair for myself. My experience, based on just a few days of use, is that these lights work very well as emergency lights or spare flashlights, but they are seriously flawed as nightlights. As an emergency light/flashlight the 10 LEDs on the top of the unit put out plenty of light, particularly on the “High” setting. This is far superior to the earlier version that I have and would earn the unit a 4 or 5 star rating. Having these lights strategically placed around the house is very convenient when you need quick access to a flashlight in your daily routine. However, when the nightlight function comes into play, we have a problem. The 6 LED nightlight on the side to the unit is simply too bright, even when set to the “Low” setting. This makes the unit unsuitable for use in a bedroom or TV room or any other area where you need a low light environment. Even placing the light outside the bedroom in an outlet about 10 feet away from the bedroom doorway was too bright for my wife. Another reviewer suggested turning the light so that the nightlight is directed at the wall. This will work to reduce the amount of light in the room, but it also will put the light sensor toward the wall which means that your nightlight may be on even during daylight hours. What this product needs is an even lower “Low” setting that would produce a softer, dimmer light for the nightlight function. But if your application is in an area where light level is not an issue (kitchen, hallway away from a bedroom, etc) then these lights will work very well.

Really bright little lights---LED
These lights may not work directly out of the package however after charging for 24 hours they work perfectly. These are LED lights which give off a bright blue glow and are excellent. There are four different modes on the light. The light will cradle in a unit that plugs into the wall, thus you do not have to pull this light from the wall plug each time you want to use it. The actual electric charge unit is a single pole that is covered and you just drop the light unit into place. There are four modes. The power failure mode will come on while the unit is still plug in and will light automatically. The second mode is the flashlight, which also has LED bulbs and is very bright. There are actually four functions in the mode, off, on hi, on low and flashing. The third mode is the nighttime mode in which the light turns on 6 LEDS should the light become too dim in the area in which the unit is placed. Finally there is a work light mode which had 6 LEDs bulbs. It works great as a desk or workbench light. The unit appears to be well made and functions just as the write up said it would We are most pleased with this purchase.

Best emergency light I have ever used
Before I got the set of Econo Lite at Sam's I had used several other emergency plug in lights but they seemed to fail often. I thought I would try these lights and I love them. I am fixing to order 2 more two packs through amazon to replace the last of my others and to add to the two Econo Lites that I have. I can't find them at Sam's any longer and am glad that Amazon is so easy to get things from. We live in a rural town in East Texas, is that enough said, and our power goes out about once or twice a month, 3 times so far this month. It is so nice to have light come on when the power is off and not have to grope around in the dark to find a flashlight, if the batteries are ok. I usually have to end up on candles if the power is off long enough, but these guys on low power will last the night and if I turn them off, they will last some the next night also if needed. I have used these two for over a year now, and gone through about 15 power outages in that time and they work each and every time!

LIGHT UP MY LIFE!
This ole' lady loves um! I needed a good flashlight and was browsing when I ran upon The Eco-Lite 4 Function. I love this concept. I don't have to worry about batteries, it looks great plugged into any room. Perfect night light that only goes on when it's dark, bright flashlight, a work light when you need both hands and a flasher when you're in trouble and need help. I expected a dim light on all functions. Not so! Very bright and no batteries!!! We have frequent electrical outages and I live in earthquake country so this was the perfect gift for myself. I love the way it looks, love the way it works and I recommend it to anyone and everyone. I'm ready to purchase some for great gifts. I have a large family and these will make the perfect Christmas gift for all. Christmas you say? Yup I have to start early or never get done. If you purchase these you will never regret it and they can be used anywhere. I don't have any negative comments. I'm thrilled with these.

Best Night/Safety Light ever!
These Eco-Lites are great. Plug them in and when you have a power failure, they turn on and give you the light you need to get around or out to safety. Where I live power outages are not uncommon and in the middle of the night it's hard to find the doorknob or even the doorway! I installed these recently and when the need came they worked perfectly -PLUS, I then grabbed the flashlight and pressed a button and had a flashlight that was very ery lightweight (No batteries)- a real boon for my senior hands. I live in a senior community and have a stairway to negotiate when the power off stops the elevators. I was "annie-on-the-spot" helping others down the stairs with my good light and was the envy of all. I cannot tell you how many of my neighbors went and got the Eco-lite and are also very pleased with them. This is a MUST have - I now have one in every room.
