SenaR1 Smart Communications Helmet (Electric Tangerine, Large)

The helmet is comfortable and fits better than any other helmet I have had and is built well, so it’s prime function is clearly going to work well. A key reason for buying this particular helmet, of course, is the integrated electronics. The best way to describe it is as an integrated Bluetooth head set with an intercom function. It performs those functions excellently. It is simple to operate, provides excellent sound quality for communication, and has all the range needed. It interfaces quite well with a computer (Mac or Windows) which can be used to update the firmware and make some settings. There is also a phone app for doing the same thing through Bluetooth. It doesn’t work. Summary: this performs all the core functions very well exactly as the manufacturer claims. Highly recommended.

These work marvelously, much better than walkie-talkies. Communication is clear even on windy days . The helmet is sturdy, weighs a little bit more than a my regular helmet. The helmet is very adjustable. Bought a visor for it manufactured by Sena, works excellently. I like to connect my phone and listen to Amazon Music when I ride solo. Fiddled around with the radio, it works, haven't ridden with radio yet. Once set up it connects to my phone flawlessly and upon pressing the correct buttons, it connects easily to the connected helmet in our group. Phone communication was very clear. It is great that I can use my phone's buttons or the helmet's buttons to answer the phone or adjust Amazon music's sound, or skip a track, or answer the phone. Google maps will talk through it, too. Really love this helmet and feel safer communicating with my fellow rider, announcing obstacles, upcoming traffic, and just talking. Very happy. Recommend.

This helmet is quite amazing! It fits nicely and comfortable on long rides. Perhaps the best feature is that it has bluetooth capabilities which is a nice feature for me since I like to listen to different podcasts while riding my bike. The two side speakers give the rider clear sound and the front microphone allows you to answer phone calls with a touch of a button. The helmet also allows you to communicate with other riders up to about 1/2 a mile, provided that the other rider also has a Sena R1 helmet. My wife and I both have helmets, so we are able to talk to one another through the helmets. I highly recommend this helmet.

We are absolutely loving these helmets. We haven't learned how to use all the features yet, that is the only downside, but have mastered turning them on, pairing to our phones, volume control, and communicating with each other with the intercom. That's mainly why we bought them - not for listening to FM radio or for some of the other features It is so nice talking to each other without shouting. I was able to warn my husband about a hard-to-see obstacle on the bike trail, and quietly point out some deer. He can easily let me know if he wants to make a turn. If one of us takes a spill, it's easy to let the other rider know. They are also very lightweight and comfy. Also, I tried a different communication helmet first, but even the XL was too small for my husband; this one fit his big head. I was able to snug down the same size to fit my head.

I knew her having this helmet she would be pointing out all the pretty flowers on our rides... Works with out issue. Highly recommend to change the fun of the ride even more and for safety.

Great fit for my big head. Very easy to pair to your phone and each other. The sound quality is very good for what it is. I am amazed by the microphone, very little wind or back ground noise. People will love at you funny as you ride by talking to someone who is know where around. They have a good range.

This is a great purchase. I bought these helmets for the intercom system so I can talk to my riding partner. It takes a moment to set the helmets up so they connect to bluetooth, but after that they perform as advertised. I have not used the other features yet, radio, music, voice commands, etc., just the intercom and like I said, it works great. The ease of talking makes long rides go by quickly.

Watched several YouTube videos to see how to operate the intercom. So far so good. Still working on how to hook my phone to it. The voice is very clear and we reach about 1/2 mile with nothing between the helmets.
