It’s not all metal but it seems tough
I just received this and have to say it’s got a nice feel of quality about it but it’s not quite what I expected as the water connector is actually plastic and I found this a little disappointing given the advertising etc. I imagine that time will tell as to the longevity of the connector. I had also thought that the water pressure may be adjustable and realise that the little black screw knob does not regulate pressure but just adjusts the “on/off” position of the trigger handle. The various jet options are quite good but a little less controllable due to the water pressure being full on.I have an old Hozelock gun that varies the pressure and I find that really useful so I think Spear & Jackson missed a trick here. A proper brass connector would also have earned it 5 stars and not the 4.

Nice spray gun spoilt by poor quality handle
This is a solid feeling spray gun which is easy to adjust and I thought it ought to last well. I was about to post a 5 star review; however, watering the garden this evening I was horrified when the handle broke. As usual, Amazon were great and agreed to refund whole amount and let me keep the broken one which I can probably repair. In the circumstances I have increase points to 4 as it is really a nice spray with what is probably a design fault - it needs a stronger plastic handle or perhaps a metal one and would then be one of the better ones.

Excellent hose gun.
I've been buying average, cheap, leaky hose guns for years now. I decided to pay a bit more and buy this Stanley having recently been very happy with some Stanley Max tools I have purchased. Also there were some good positive reviews. Well the fact is that I have found it to have better pressure than I expected, a good number of jet spray choices. And no dripping or leaking and cold wet hands. Time will tell but right now I wish I'd bought one years ago.

A really well made hose trigger
I needed a new trigger for the Hozelock garden hose after the manufacturer’s recommended one cracked within a couple of months light use.In comparison, this Stanley one is in a different league altogether as it’s partly made of alloy and for not much more money. There are some abs plastic parts but these feel much tougher so overall I think it’ll survive the inevitable knocks as you’re winding back the hose. The spray patterns are pretty decent for watering and cleaning as well. The pressure seems much better than the last one I had.I know it’s only a hose trigger but it has the feel of a well machined tool that will last a good while.

Looking good
We use this in a yard with horses. So it has to be tough. Sometimes our hose guns get trodden on and sometimes they are left out when it freezes overnight. This looks like the best one yet, and only a little more expensive than the ones commonly found local garden centres.Fingers crossed it continues to be as robust as it seems.

Follow up review, after 17 months of ownership
Heavy duty, but still failed after 17 months of ownership although only used for just over one and a bit seasons, the trigger failed and the spring has started to come through the plastic. Good while it lasted but same as all the others.

Built to last.
This is a replacement for the cheap plastic hose gun that came with my hose as the dog chewed through it. It feels very sturdy in hand and appears very well made/finished. Clips straight onto a standard hose pipe connection just like the old one which was great.

Sturdy spray gun
This has a good variety of pressure area sprays and is very good quality.
