Dark King: Sea Fae, Book 1

Dark King but really it’s about a Dark Queen
I did like this novel. It did leave with a massive cliffhanger or a to be continued. The story was good, had some intense moments, comical, romantic, but it all seemed so slow to then a massive rush where I feel Iike details were purposefully omitted to ensure another book can occur for the series. There were scenes of the story that occurred that I didn’t understand why or how they fit in the plot, but maybe to bring into play later down the road. I enjoyed the writers style with including the past for the main heroine Aenor to get why she is the way she is. There was a lot of gaps or unanswered questions for Aenor which in turns means a lot of unanswered questions for the reader. All in all, I think there is potential here. It was a nice, quick read.

Storyline is overshadowed by redundancy
It was.. super hard to stay engaged in this book. The authors repeated use of the same words and 8th-grade level sentence structure made it hard to want to even continue. There was no rhyme or reason as to why anything was happening. Not sure why this book got so many high reviews, but def feel misled and like I wasted my time/money.

I just didn't like the book
I like how the character constantly says she doesn't like men, how she needs a man to say something for it to be true. It's great character development and so true. However I dislike a lot of plot points especially in regards of her 'being responsible for a horrible catastrophe in the past'. I don't feel like it was resolved well, and I disliked the ending.

Another fabulous read!
In googling "amazon bestseller list," I came across this book. In a fit of jealousy (I'm only human) I wanted to hate it. I wanted to thumb through it, and find all kinds of errors, mistakes, and overall boredom. That didn't happen.I inhaled this in one day - less than a day. (My family is still angry for having sandwiches for dinner.)The plot was phenomenal, the characters addictive, and the sexy stuff was UBER sexy. This is some of the finest writing I've come across lately.I'm sure my modest little review doesn't mean a whole lot to some of you, but you should trust me when I say THIS BOOK IS AWESOME, and I can't wait for book 2. Like, I literally CAN'T WAIT.Hurry up Crawfords.....

Action packed from start to finish!!!!!
Action packed from beginning to end!!! I absolutely could not put this book down.I've read it 3 times and it is still riveting...Absolutely love the characters in this book and the mythology is fascinating. The Heroine Aenor is brave and endearing. I love that she owns her mistakes and is willing to openly discuss what she remembers about her painful past.I really like that Aenor doesn't fully understand what happened to her but refuses to be ruled by the fear of the unknown and is fiercely determined to protect others. Aenor protects her vulnerability by wrapping herself in the persona of a deadly killer even as she only seeks to avenge the weak by punishing their attackers.Lyr well what can I say??? HOT, SEXY AND DANGEROUS... Absolutely the perfect combination of delicious.C.N. Crawford does not disappoint with this amazing first installment of the Sea Fae series... I can't wait for book number 2 .This is a must have read for fans. Don't shy away from it because it is more romantic than other series. The plot is amazing and the romance is sexy but not overly done. The relationship builds as the characters interact over time and feels natural to the story dynamics. I can't say enough about how well it was written because I am not one for overly romantic details (I enjoy the less is more approach). This books romance is tastefully done without diminishing the passion between the main characters.I can't say enough about the intriguing interwoven details of past history and current events. I'm dying to find out what happens next. Grab your copy and get settled in for an epic read... Make sure you have snacks cuz your not gonna want to stop till you finish it completely.

Disappointed
I didn’t like the very frequent use of the f word or how no matter how much trouble they were trying to run from all they thought about was sex. Stupid. It could have been a really fun book but it was just disappointing.

Great Start to a New Series
Aenor has been hiding out for over 100 years when a fae assassin tracks her down and threatens to kill her if she doesn’t perform a task for him. Unfortunately, there are a lot of fae that don’t want them to succeed. The story is well written and the world building is excellent. There is plenty of action. This was an easy read.

Three and a half
Three and a halfAenor is a Fae princess in hiding or should that be queen because her mother was killed when their kingdom vanished from the world ? Aenor has many regrets not least the fact that she was a spoiled, notorious drunk but also that the majority of her inherent magic was stolen from her. She's tried to do much better in the human world, killing the monsters and befriending those who need help. What she doesn't want is to be caught by the Fae but everything goes down the pan when a Fae King discovers her hideout and she does the only thing that she knows will save her and that's kill him with cold, hard iron but sometimes the dead come back !I had high hopes for this but sadly just didn't believe in the relationship that gradually formed between Aenor and Lyr. I'm a hopeless romantic and to my mind this was just about lust and a quest for power. I did enjoy the twist ( obviously my lips are sealed ) but was totally baffled by the character Salem who was introduced. Is he the true enemy or is he going to be another notch on her bed post ? I'm informed that the next book gets better so might give it a go but as I type honestly I'm undecided.

A great start to another wonderful storey from CN Crawford
Ok my fav works by CN were her some of her earlier books such as the Shadows and Flame series and Dark Fae books but i always wished that there was more heat and sizzle. This books starts down that route and hopefully as the storey progresses it will become steamier. This is more of a romance based book which normally would put me off but there is enough storey content that i really enjoyed it. Interesting plot with lots of promise for the future books.

Paper thin characters
One dimensional characters. Huge plot holes. The literary equivalent of eating too much candy cane. You feel nauseated and need to lie down or you'll vomit.

Good first book
Told from Aenor's POV, the main female lead who is a likeable character. Lyr is the male lead who hides secrets. The story is fast moving with lots of twist and turns. Still not sure if Lyr is hiding important information from Aenor who is the queen of Ys. Aenor meets Salem near the end but who really is he and why does he have her power, or does he? Lots of mystery so will be reading book 2. The other thing I didnt like was Aenor's constant lusting over Lyr. Sexual content. Recommended.
