I'M DEAD SERIOUS... This is Awesome!!!
I bought this as aift and I couldn't be more pleased with this subscription. While only on the 4th "episode", the recipient has reported that she is having a blast with this fantastic interactive mystery "game". The attention to detail that the designers have given is amazing!! It is obvious that great care when into crafting the storyline and "evidence". The developers have really created a quite captivating little world. It is user-friendly and fun! She really looks forward to receiving each installment. As far as my experience goes, this purchase was painless. No problems with payment, shipping, or customer service to report. This is, hands-down, the coolest gift I've given in recent years and has proven to be the perfect answer to the question "What do you get for the person who has everything?". I highly recommend checking it out and am considering purchasing more. Bottom line - fantastic choice for anyone who enjoys 1 or more of the following: game nights, puzzles, logic problems, crime or murder/mystery shows, and HAVING FUN!

We Love It
We really enjoy this company and their products. First, if you aren't familar, the idea is each season is 6 "episodes", and you get one episode per month. The premise is that a small town investigator doesn't have the resources to solve a murder, and they are enlisting your help (you being a more seasoned investigator). If you actually order through the Hunt a Killer website, you can expedite your boxes if you want to go through them faster. The Hunt a Killer website also has other seasons, entire box sets, and shorter non-subscription premiums of all kinds if you prefer harder mysteries, or science fiction, or paranormal, or family-friendly, etc. Many of the episodes have a goal of eliminating a suspect or two, but you shouldn't stop just at that. The people who finish each episode in 20 minutes must not be reading everything and finding all the clues. You should take notes and make timelines, as you will fill in time gaps and catch characters in lies or misinformation later as more evidence comes in with interviews and phone records, etc. You are piecing together a crime story with many characters, events, timelines, and items. The "small town investigator" sends you bagged evidence, interviews, autopsy reports, drug test results, maps, newspaper clippings, crime scene pictures, etc each month as they find them. There are website links to follow with surveillance footage, or recorded audio, or social media postings from the suspects, or high school discipline records. There are clues hidden in everything they send. There are ciphers to figure out. The attention to detail is unbelievable. Additionally, I can't relate to the people who said their customer service was bad. I emailed their website and had a response in a day. I posted a question in their Facebook group and was answered by one of their reps in less than one hour. Overall, it usually takes the two of us 90 minutes per episode (or box). I think $30 is reasonable for 90 minutes of entertainment for two people. We would spend that much or more if we went out somewhere for our entertainment instead. We recently bought The Woods box set of 5 episodes for $140 and the first box took us almost 3 hours! There were so many layers to it. It was so fun though because it was just like being in a horror movie (it was a paranormal story about witches summoning spirits). Overall, you get out of it what you put into it. If you are one dimensional and don't piece all aspects of the story together and only focus on eliminating one suspect, then you're not going to like it and you will sell the whole experience short. If you like challenging yourself and looking at all the angles, details, and storylines, you will love it too. If you are considering it, I would recommend joining their official Facebook group. The reps will answer any questions and you can see how other people like it.

Order direct from Hunt A Killer NOT Amazon
Highly recommend ordering through the Hunt A Killer's main website and NOT through Amazon. My first and current subscription is through Amazon and when I had questions regarding the next boxes arrival Amazon directed me to HAK and HAK had no record of my order and therefore were unable to help me. You're also unable to login to the HAK website once you receive your first episode box (again because HAK doesn't recognize the Amazon subscription) which I'm told gives you access to be able to order your next box sooner (this would be a nice option) Also my second box was missing three items and again Amazon directed me to HAK and HAK stated that they would only contact me if there was an issue otherwise the missing items would arrive in 2-3 days; it's now been 6 days and I've not received the items in the mail or an email back from HAK stating they needed more info from me. :( I'm really hoping the arrival of the next boxes goes more smoothly and that I get a complete boxes the first time around so I don't have to go through the hassle of trying to contact someone again. The concept of the game it's self is great and my friends and I are enjoying it so far. I would definitely recommend that you to purchase and play this interactive murder mystery game, but when you do just be sure to purchase it direct from HAK.

Great Game! Don't Subscribe Through Amazon!!!! Read below.
This game is a lot of fun. Our kids love playing detective and really get into it. Each box has high quality materials and the online component is done very well. DON"T SUBSCRIBE THROUGH AMAZON! Amazon's subscription service is horribly broken. Every time you ship an order to a different address or person through your account, the AMAZON subscription software automatically thinks that this is a new subscription and will start sending you box 1 again. Or a maybe a different previous box. As a result, we spent a lot of time and many emails with Hunt A Killer's customer service having them send us the correct boxes. And now we have three episode 1s, two episode 2s etc... Do yourself and the poor customer service people a favor and just subscribe through the Hunt A Killer site directly. Amazon knows about their subscription issues but is not able to fix it.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE
So far, honestly I am slightly disappointed. I love the story and the entire concept but the fact that it is so expensive and you don’t get the whole case, is very frustrating. It takes 6 months to solve one case. On top of that, you can’t expedite the next box. So once you go thru one months evidence, (which takes about an hour MAYBE 2) you have to wait A WHOLE MONTH for that next clue. Which is very annoying. Then by the time you get the next clue, you’ve forgotten everything from before and need to reread everything. I believe it would not be as bad if it were less expensive and if you could expedite the boxes. The story itself is interesting. The problem is, you want to know more. (Without breaking the bank) I’m on my 3rd month, I’ll probably stop after the 6. After I’ve solved this mystery. If they lower their prices, I’d be willing to move into the next case. (Also customer service is not very good. Takes a while to get responses and they’re isually not very helpful. It’s always, “there’s nothing we can do”) UPDATE SO NOT WORTH THE MONEY! As I continue, the boxes become more and more easy and less and less interesting and engaging. The 4th box came with like two new papers and one piece of evidence. I finished the objective in literally 10 minutes... now I have to wait a whole month for the rest. So not worth the money.

Would recommend
My boyfriend and I really enjoy getting a new box each month. We spend about an hour or two working together to eliminate suspects. A nice activity to do together and use critical thinking skills.

Not your typical murder mystery game!
I can only assume I saw ads for this box after my phone heard my wife talk about another horror or thriller movie for the 100th time. I'm not a huge fan of mystery but I thought, "why not?" and gave this box a chance. I figured, at the very least, it would be something fun for both of us to enjoy and a chance for me to try a new type of game. This box did not disappoint. I was a little confused when it arrived in the mail, the packaging was very slick and professional. I was expecting a cardboard box… but then again I'm not very detail oriented and didn't look at any of the pictures, which would explain why I chose to play this game with my wife and not alone. This game ended up being way more fun than I expected! The content is engaging and I wasn't ever bored. It actually kept me interested the entire time we 'played' (I say 'played' because you are always playing, thinking about the clues and whatnot.) I haven't quite finished the first season but I'm already looking forward to the next season, and I'll probably check out their sci-fi adventures as well. I'll be sure to update this review once I've finished the entire season.

Fun family game night(s) but beware the subscription is indefinite
The 6 month season is fun, but a bit pricey. I didn't realize that once you "find the killer" the subscription continues, but it is indeed clearly marked in the description, (or at least now it is, I missed it when ordering initially). It is a fun family game night, but I did cancel once I realized I was getting season two boxes. And in case you're wondering they can't be returned as per Mildred from Hunt A Killer customer service. "Each investigation unfolds over a six-episode season. You’ll eliminate one suspect every month until the thrilling conclusion. Once you find the killer, your subscription continues with a brand new story!" Have fun hunting!
