SwimWays Star Wars Death Star Light-Up Inflatable Beach Ball

This ball is a lot of fun for Star Wars fans alike! We've had this inflated for a few weeks and it hasn't lost any air. The light up mechanism rolls around on the inside which can be distracting for some people who just want a basic ball but it's awesome when it lights up. On that note, the light isn't super strong so during the day you can't really see it.We've noticed that when you hit/boounce it once, it will light up and then when you hit/bounce it again it will turn off. If you don't hit/bounce again it will stay lit up for 10-20 seconds (from what we noticed).It is a pretty sturdy ball that all ages were playing with. We had a 1.5 year old rolling all over it and adults throwing it around and it still works great.

My kid loves Battlestar Galactica, so when I saw this beach ball on-the-line, I knew I'd be 'father of the year' to her, for at least a few days. When it arrived I was bummed it wasn't pre-inflated, but decided that someone down at the factory where it came from probably was just having a bad day and forgot to blow it up before slapping the proper postage on it and sending it our way. Boy, do I know how a bad day can mess you all up at work. One time, I didn't realize my wife switched the selector on the toaster to dark, the way she likes bread toasted, then threw a couple slices of 9 grain wheat in there only to find them charred. I prefer lightly toasted bread (I probably should have mentioned that earlier). I looked at the clock ... no time to make new toast. So, I rushed to work on an empty stomach and on a conference call with HQ, called our VP of sales, Jason. His name is Herb. A week later, guess who got the big promotion I'd been gunning for for about 3 years. You guessed it, Johnson. Not me. So, I decided to blow up the Star Battle Beach Ball myself and not get upset. Well, so much breathing and I hyperventilated. I had to use that old, 'breathe into a paper bag' trick. I find it to work 50% of the time that really only works around 2/3rd's of the time. But, I'm happy to report my kid loves the beach ball and Star Trek is still her favorite galaxy.

Right out of the package, before I could even get it blown up, the light up feature was turning on, though after getting it blown up with air I realized the light is separate from the ball on the inside, only illuminating the part it's lying against (thought light would be more in the skin of the ball itself), but it does a pretty good job nonetheless. As far as beach balls go, it's definitely on the small side, but big enough and sturdy enough for a bunch of boys to play rough with.

Given the mixed reviews, I was hesitant to order these. We had no problem with them. Make sure you check the size of the item, there are regular and extra-large. I wanted the regular size which is the size of a beach ball and I ordered 5. We used an air-compressor to inflate and they were perfect. They work best in the dark, with the lights on you can't really see them light up. We had a dark dance floor at our Star Wars party and the kids threw them around for a very cool effect. They were surprisingly durable, they survived the entire night being kicked, thrown and yes, even bounced on by a 3 year old! We managed to keep one but the rest went home with the guests. They loved them. I don't know how long the light will last, and once it dies, I don't think there is anyway to replace the battery. So consider them to have a limited life-span. I was very happy with this purchase.

This is a really good blow-up Death Star. Thankfully the Emperor did not find this listing, or we'd all be in a lot of trouble.

I went down the middle of the board on this with my rating. Its a cool product, the price was fine in my opinion. Unique too..i dont think you'll see this much at the beach. It was just mine had a breach at a seam and the repair patch wouldnt hold so it wasnt usable and didnt hold air. I started the return process and they immediately refunded me. Its an inflatable item so that type of thing happens. I wouldnt let this stop anyone from buying it though, its a cool item!

Editing my review after returning the original purchase and reordering from Terry Kinder. Second product is new, unopened, and actually a beach ball. That lights up! Bonus, it was (for some unknown reason) cheaper than the first ball.So, beware who you order from.Listing claims this is a beach ball. It's even shown with frolicking children for scale! Don't believe the photos, those children must be animated dolls. This "beach ball" is no more than 4 inches across. To add insult to injury, the d*mn thing doesn't even light up. Oh, and the packaging was all messed up, it looks like this was returned by a previous customer. Kind of like I'll be doing.

Hosted a STAR WARS birthday party for our 9 yr granddaughter. Couldn't find an affordable Death Star pinata, so used this instead! It was affordable and would last beyond the party. Hung it from a bamboo pole with fish line. Blindfolded the kids and then, holding it up, had them bat at it with their "light sabers' that we made from pool noodles. It's light enough that I cold swing it all around them, making it harder for them to hit! They really liked it, we had lots of laughs!

I just wanted to say, even a few years after our original purchase and a lot of love/aggressive play from our boys, it’s still intact and still lights up!

This is fab. Stays blown up for ages - did ours end of August and it’s still fine in December. The light up bit doesn’t last too long which is a shame, you have to keep shaking it to start it again
