Continental Divide

I had forgotten about this movie for a long time. I had bought 1941 recently and was looking at other John Bleushi movies and saw this one and bought it . John was a true comedic genius and he was gone way too soon.

I like comedy movies and this one was a very tasteful movie that includes comedy and romance. I’ve seen it a few times in my lifetime and now as a senior wanted it in my library to be able to play at anytime. Yeah I’m one of those old guys that has extra Blue-Ray/DVD players and even a combo VHS-DVD player that I have helped many in the family convert their home movies to current technologies with a backup on DVD. I even have a old Sony 8mm tape camera to do 8mm tapes.

Haven't seen this movie in a long time, so I bought the DVD,

This is an older movie, but a classic John Belushi. Set in the Colorado Rockies, and Chicago, absolutely two polar opposites, it's a light comedy, with an ok storyline, but beautiful scenery. A little language, but mild by today's standards. I'd rate it PG 13.

My dad told me about this movie, but quickly realized he was mixing other movies together. Surprisingly this m9vie ended up being very funny and a cute comedy.

We've hit that point in Hollywood's timeline where everything it makes is irredeemable garbage. But it wasn't always so. It used to make films of beauty and nuance. Movies filled with charm and reverence for both the characters and their flaws. Continental Divide is a film that hits all the right notes, and is just the kind of oasis I was looking for in the sea of hot 2023 garbage that streaming services like to call entertainment. I feel like my time was well spent, and I enjoyed the film from beginning til the last credit rolled by.

I loved this movie when it premiered in 1981. I'd gone to see it several times in succession. It was like a private midnight movie in broad daylight. Even though critics and public alike were divided in their reaction to Belushi's departure from his usual image, he still showed what he can do outside of it. As Ernie Souchak, he was convincing as a hot headed investigative journalist out to expose a corrupt city official. Writer Lawrence Kasdan and director Michael Apted turned the concept into two mini movies wherein the same character would fall in love with Ornithologist Nell Porter in the Colorado rockies, where Souchak is sent in hiding after being severely beaten by the bad guy's henchmen in a dark alley.The rocky romance is often cute, funny, and poignant, and the scenes of Souchak bringing his nemesis to justice, after the murder of a whistleblower, are great fun to watch. Belushi could do drama...very convincingly. If he lived, he might've had a turn in one of the 75 Law and Order shows. Animal House and Blues Brothers were fun, of course, but this movie and the follow-up Neighbors (which I wish was also available on DVD...or at least Netflix) showed sides of John Belushi's talent which were only beginning to shine, but...

First time I watched it around late 80s DVD...???? A bit dissapointet because Its john Belushi you expect more funny...???? Sec. time around maybe 15 Years ago knowing it"s a quieter Movie than normal john Belushi movies I watched it with Diffrent Eyes Diffrent aprouch than befor & I startet to like it because Its still an typical john Belushi movie ...???? Now 2021 Blu-Ray third time watching it I love it ????? Yes it took me 100 Years finally to love this John Belushi Movie it is all 100 % an John Belushi Movie...???? What an amazing Acting performance he"s giving us in his Ways...? Romance/Love/Comedy/Feel good movie/Positive Attitude about nature / Now Im more Mature watching 80s Movies in diffrent ways......? Great 80s Family Movie ...???? Highly recommendet with one of the best The very " BEST " Comedy Actors in his prime we lost too early...????? Try watching " Neighbours " another amazing full on Comedy Movie with Dan Aykroyd/Belushi...??? Belushi kinda quiet in this one too always the Victim but full on Naughty & funny.....? 5 Stars from 5......

If you are looking for mad, crazy comedy by John Belushi,- then this is not it. Instead what were have here, is a drama movie. Continental Divide and Neighbours, both of which were released in 1981 were the two last movies that John Belushi was ever to make. This movie should have been the last (released in september 1981) and Neighbours in december 1981. Continental Divide is a story of two very different persons, newspaper man and eagle-researcher (of sorts). Actually this movie is pretty good, it shows another side of John Belushi: he does convincing enough job doing a drama role. Belushi and Blair Brown play well together. All in all, a much better movie than I expected!!!

Really enjoyed this movie many years ago. Great performer wonderfulstory lines. Well worth the purchase...
