Very nice tire
I've tried a number of tires, and the Maxxis Refuse is a very nice tire. It is less expesive and less harsh than other "bulletproof" tires. However, it is often difficult to mount, and if it is not mounted properly it will come off the rim. I fill the tube a bit (this helps to avoid pinch flats), and as I work the tire onto the rim I often have to hold it in place with one hand while I fit it on with the other. Once mounted, I fill slowly to about 80 psi and check for bulges (by looking and also by feeling around both sides of the rim with my hands). If there are any, I deflate and work that spot a little more (push the tire in towards the rim and rotate a bit towards where the bulge was). If there are no bulges at 80 I continue to fill to 120, because if there's a problem I'd like to find out in my garage rather than on the road (just be ready to deflate quickly if a bulge appears, because at 120 things will blow out fast). If no problems, I'll leave the tire for a few minutes to be sure there are no slow-developing issues. Then I deflate to around 100 or 105 and go riding.

Incredibly Reliable Tire
I worked in the bike industry for over 15 years. I've ridden just about every kind of tire from most of the major manufacturers. This tire is similar to the Specialized Armadillo, the Continental GatorSkin, the Schwalbe Marathon, Bontrager Plus (Hard Case), etc.. All of these are good tires. There is always a compromise between weight, speed, grip, and puncture resistance. This tire is of moderate weight. Some comparably priced puncture resistant tires often rotate irregularly, as if there was a bump on the tire, but the Maxxis Re-Fuse rolls well and smoothly. The grip on them is average to fairly good. The puncture resistance is excellent. I commute every day and traffic has forced me more than once to ride straight through fresh patches of broken glass and recent car crash debris. I would have excused the ReFuse tire for giving in to a puncture, but so far they have proven to be quite puncture proof. I've been riding this tire on my commuter bike for 4 years and I can't recall getting a flat while using it. The only times I think I've had a flat was when I had to run a backup, non-ReFuse tire while waiting for the next batch of Maxxis tires. So, when will you need to replace one of these tires? I ride hard daily, between 20-30 miles on average. Somewhere between 6-12 months these tires start to "chunk out". That means small patches of the rubber, maybe a centimeter or so, will start to peel away from the inner puncture resistant casing. But what's amazing is that they will still ride okay even though there are now bald patches on the tire. Some slipping potential, for sure, especially in wet conditions, but they still work... and won't puncture! But at least I'm are given a warning: Buy some new tires, already!

Great tire for training
I first put these tires on my commuter bike and was very impressed with the durability. Now they are on both my road bike and my wife's road bike. The roads here in southeast Idaho are TERRIBLE and the last thing you want is a ruined ride. I do notice a bit more rolling resistance than my usual Continentals but the flat protection is worth the trade off. At my age which is past caring if I am five minutes slower on a long ride not having to fix flats out on a ride is far more important. I have not had to fix a flat due to road damage on three sets, the only flats were due to the stems on tubes leaking due to age. The rough roads (chip seal which is rough gravel with oil to hold it in place) here take a toll but my wife just got 4000 miles on a set before they were torn up enough to require changing out. I do not track miles anymore but probably get about the same. I highly recommend these tires!

You ride a lot? IMO this one is very good
I don't write many product reviews but this tire has performed so well I just had to say something. I ride almost every day 10-20 miles per day and have been doing so for 25 years. Up until 5 months ago was frustrated by the multiple flats I was running into on another "more famous" brand. So having never heard of this one I took a chance and let me tell you this Maxxis tire has delivered. Not only have I not had any flats with it, but it also showing very little wear after 3 months. Just really impressive. Glad I found this "guy" and enjoying not having my relaxing ride interrupted to stop & perform a repair!5 month update: Tire is now showing considerably wear, which is surprising given how good it looked after the first 3 months. Anyway, seeing this wear I knocked down my star rating from 5 to 4. Even with the wear now showing I still highly recommend this tire because so far I haven't had a flat.6 month update: Decide to replace my back tire because it was showing so much wear at this point. However, I still haven't had a flat. I've ridden every day over these past 6 months, so that's roughly 2500-2700 miles between replacements (back tire).7 month update: Okay, after replacing the rear tire with a new Maxxis Re-Fuse tire I got my first flat on this new set in less than a month. It was a heavy-duty construction staple that made it thru. Okay, this tire is not perfect, but still fairly happy with them. I guess I would give them 3&1/2 stars if I could now having ridden them for several months.

Great tire. Like the new look
This is a great all-around tire and works really well for city riding. I haven't had a single puncture in the past few years since using these tires and the streets of NYC are full of glass shards, debris and potholes. I recently purchased a new set and the newer version has a redesigned label on the side which looks much cleaner than what is pictured here. The previous version was white/yellow/red and was a bit too much and cheesy. The new graphics are much smaller with less coloring, making it a more discrete and generally a better looking tire. It's NYC, I don't need a tire screaming "I cost 30 bucks, steal me!"PS: The tire initially feels muted and slower until a good 100+ miles on it. The compound has good grip, but wears really slowly.

Buenas llantas

Good tire for casual riding.
I am not a racer. Riding at 20-25 km/h, this tire is fine.
