Works great, but why two kinds?
I like this stand, it works very well, IF you have the foam spacers that are often shown with the unit. Get the foam spacers and the bike sits more upright and doesn't have the tendency to lean so much, often wanting to fall out, especially on road bikes with small tire rims. May not be too much of an issue with mountain bikes or bikes with wide tires, but these need the spacers. In fact, they really should be included when you buy the stand, you shouldn't have to spend the extra 10 bucks to purchase them. The extra cost to the company would be so much less than what we have to pay for them. And why make a stand almost exactly the same, but one for commercial use, another for the consumer. I know, one is cheaper, but it has to be assembled with 8 screws. The other version, which I bought first, was a 2 piece welded construction where all you do is push the top round section into the support section. Easy. Costs a few bucks more, but again, really needs to come with the foam spacers included. In fact, I didn't know there were two versions, and I thought I was buying the former one, just sold at a better discount by one seller. The other version was free shipping with Amazon, this one I had to pay for, but still a few bucks less.Seriously, you can't go wrong with either version, although the screw together one does take a few minutes to figure out, as the instructions are very sparse, and there are three different types of screws, and they don't tell you which one goes where. The thinner long ones, by the way, go on the rear foot brace.Update 2-28-13 I still like this unit, it still does the job of holding my bikes, but I think I will get a drill, and screw in a metal screw or two, as when ever I lift it when moving it around in the garage, it falls apart, the handle just slips off too easily. The other unit has small screws holding it together, so if I had to do it over, I would buy the one that has the screws, saving me the time I have to add them myself later.

Strong and durable!
My son purchased this bike stand for his racing mountain bike. He says it is very heavy duty, strong and holds his bike upright. Will also hold larger bikes. He works in a department store managing the bike department and recommends to others this bike stand.

Terrible build quality...
After spending 15 to 20 minutes putting this together, taking it apart, and putting it together, over and over again, I finally realized that it was simply fabricated incorrectly. Holes were drilled in the wrong places, the joints did not line up, and the end result was a stand that is crooked and awkward and likely unstable...having just finished it and given my bike in in the SUV, I haven't actually tried it yet. My guess is that it will work, and therefore is not worth the trouble of sending back, but it's just ridiculous that this device was designed and fabricated so poorly. I don't know what to recommend, but I'd suggest you keep looking.

It's the best out there!
After looking at lots of bike stands and trying another brand and sending it back, I can tell you this is the one! It is made out of solid materials and easy to put together. It holds even the finest bike safely. No pressure on spokes. No pressure on hubs. Road bikes and mountain bikes fit wonderfully.Price here is high though.
