Must Buy Awl - Perfect for the Leatherworking I use it for
Incredible value for a very solid, sharp, and overall well made awl. I ordered a second one just to have it in case I misplace or lose my current one. I use this this awl first to make the initial holes as it is relatively skinny and goes through the leather like a knife through butter, and then combine it with a second fatter awl to increase the hole diameter (which isnt necessary but I find it easier to stitch doing it this way).

The perfect small awl for my projects!
I will admit that I don't have tons of experience with all sorts of different awls, so I can't do any comparisons. I did have expectations for what I wanted out of an awl though and this one has totally fit the bill.I wanted one that was smaller and comfortably fit in my hand. I wanted it to trace out patterns on leather/rawhide. I wanted it to be able to punch holes in the wet rawhide as well. And I wanted it to help me push lacing through the punched holes. All the while, I wanted a sturdy feeling awl that felt like it was quality made and would last for years. This CS Osborne 1 X Scratch Awl is perfect! It has met all my criteria and works flawlessly for me! I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Not too sturdy, but sharp.
I mostly use this for bookbinding, and the shaft of the as I is just a little too big for the needle, so I have to be careful not to push it in all the way. Other than that, it's great. Very sharp and pretty sturdy, but not perfect. It came wrapped in tape, which was difficult to remove, but once I got that off it workwd fine.

Nice small fine awl
Looked very similar to the one my father had given me that the wood finally cracked. It is smaller and the wooden handle is about 30% smaller than my old one making it harder to use when pushing with force. Will do what I want it to, so can't complain.

Took awhile to receive, but glad it got here!
Took awhile to receive, but, was happy when it got here. But, that is why I have it 4 out of 5 stars. I use for scrapbooking, quilling and bookbinding

Puts holes in things you want to put holes in.
It puts holes in things. Pretty much what you would expect. The awl is a little wide for paper punching (I use it for bookbinding), but is probably great for leather or fabrics. I like the size of the gourd back.

Four Stars
Works great poking things in robotics projects (pins in a robotics rover's track). Really durable and sharp.
