Yerba Mate Rosamonte Especial 3 Pack - 6.6 lbs (3 kg)

I switched to mate from coffee a few years ago. I know it's generally an afternoon drink, but I drink it in the morning like coffee. There were a couple of websites where I bought it regularly. Unfortunately, Dr. Oz saw fit to publicly endorse it as a health tea, and the price went up everywhere, including my regular sellers. So I went looking, and found this on amazon. This is my favorite brand. The Selección Especial is aged two years in special wooden boxes with vents to let smoke in. This is "elaborada con palo", meaning that it has stem bits in it, which makes the flavor last longer for more refills. Some will prefer "sin palo"(without stems), because the stems also add a little bitterness to the mate. I understand that in Argentina, where mate is a common as coffee is here, Rosamonte is generally regarded as one of the best commercially available mate brands. Of this seller in particular, I can say that they were prompt, and that the box came with a couple free samples of flavored mate. A lot of people will prefer the flavored kinds, especially either "citron" which is lemon, or "hierbes de montaña", which means moutain herbs and tastes like mint. I, however, prefer this for day-to-day consumption. I run plain water through the coffee-maker, fill a large coffee cup about 1/3 full with mate, and just keep topping it up with hot water for a couple hours as I sip it through the bombilla. The main thing that pleased me about this merchant is that the product was considerably less dusty than what I had been getting from my previous suppliers. The difference is probably about handling and storage. The bags are like a bag of sugar, and a lot of rough handling could crush the leaves inside, creating dust. In the mate, dust gets through the holes in the bombilla and coats your tongue, tastes a little bitter, and generally degrades the experience. When it first arrived, I opened a bag and poured it into a big tupperware container that I use to store it. And I immediately noticed that there was very little dust compared to what I had been getting when I ordered this from my old seller. I'm very happy with what I received.

The smoky flavor of the Rosamonte Especial is good, but not overpowering - just right. I depend on yerba mate to keep me away from coffee. Rosamonte Especial is good enough for that purpose. I was surprised that the vendor custombags sent my individual order by Fedex from Argentina. I had assumed that the order would be shipped from an Amazon warehouse in the USA. It took maybe 4 days to make it through customs in Argentina. It only took about 3 days to arrive at my house after my order finally became airborne. The expiration date is August 22, 2021, giving me a year and a half to drink it. Another vendor emailed me the expiration date of his Rosamonte Especial was in about a week. A third vendor told me it would be in a few months, but that I shouldn't worry since yerba mate is good for a long time after the expiration date. "custombags" told me that the expiration date would be in about a year. I expected 3 one-kilogram bags. I got 6 half-kilogram bags, probably because they fit neatly in the Fedex box. I like the smaller bags anyway. I will update this review if anything bad happens. But so far the order is perfect. The yerba mate tastes good. No bags broke in shipment. The order was sent as fast as reasonably possible. The expiration date is good. The vendor I bought from answered my questions in English.

Best Yerba Mate form Argentina for me.

As someone who's very new to Yerba Mate, I read a lot of reviews about Rosamonte being the luxury brand of Yerba Mate. That said, I just finished my first serving and the taste is overwhelmingly strong and smokey. If you're new to this, you may want to first try some of the more mild or fruit flavored Yerba's so that this doesn't end up being your first measurement of what quality Yerba tastes like. Ultimately, taste is subjective and should not necessarily reflect the quality of the product which is why my review is 5 stars. While I'm not used to this flavor yet, I'd imagine that after a while, I'll be able to grow into it. I also wanted to address the expiry date on the packages I received. The package date was 2019, and the expiry date says, 2022 but this labeling is mostly irrelevant as Yerba Mate stored properly in a tin, or glass jar, can preserve for years and can/will age and get better over time. The 3 packages are more than I can hope to go through in a few years time, so it's plenty.

This yerba arrived quickly each time I've ordered (twice now) and that's not the best thing about it because it's so good I wouldn't mind waiting a few extra days lol. I'm fairly new to yerba mate so I tried many new brands but so far nothing compares to this. And I've introduced it to coworkers and this is their favorite brand as well. The flavor is smooth and complex. My coworker says it reminds her (taste and aroma) of playing in a barn as a child and evokes pleasant memories. The effects are awesome. It calms while allowing more mental focus and lasts for hours. I drink it all day at work and sleep like a baby at night. I've given up coffee and it feels great. It's very helpful with digestion and both coworkers agree. I'm very thankful to have found it and I'm known as the yerba man now here at work and I embrace it lol.

While not as good as EcoTeas or La Obereña, this is a nice yerba maté - with a mild flavor that would appeal to first time maté drinkers.

So far, I have tried the three varieties of Rosamonte yerba that caught my attention. The tradition, the suave and the special selection. This seems to be the best but none of them are by any means bad. I've tried a couple of other brands. Taragui comes to mind. I ordered a lot of that because it had an outstanding price for a lot of yerba and I couldn't pass it up. It was OK but pretty strong and I regretted it. After that, I just went back to Rosamonte and never looked back. I don't want to discourage yerba mate drinkers from experimenting but if you're going to do it, always order in small amounts until you know what you like. Believe it or not, everything about yerba mate can vary dramatically from one brand to the next and it sucks to have a bunch of yerba mate on hand that you're not that fond of. And it's not cheap when you pretty much have to order it. Anyway, the Rosamonte Seleccion Especial. I love the extra smoky flavor. I use cream and sweetener and it mingles perfectly. Nice thing about yerba mate is it seems to be perfect for experimentation. Add a little lemon or mint flavor and it tastes like it was meant to be.

Rich and well-balanced flavour, very fresh and high quality. Ideal for everyday use.

Great Product

Je ne suis pas expert en Yerba Maté, celui la étant le premier que j'ai consommé, mais j'ai bien apprécié le goût légèrement amer et agréable. Je recommande donc en toute humilité et avec le peu de recul que j'ai !

I was shocked at first at the difference in taste and smell amongest the other yerba mates ive tried (playadito, taragui and Rosamonte traditional) and is my favorite so far

è davvero di un'ottima qualità tra l'altro mi hanno detto che è la marca di mate più conosciuta in Argentina. Di sicuro il sapore è ottimo, tutte le storie sul sapore amaro e sulle proprietà dimagranti ...beh per il primo si tratta di gusto, io per esempio lo bevo amaro e con gli strumenti tradizionali ovvero la tazza zucca e la bombilla, per il secondo punto direi che per dimagrire ci vuole un'alimentazione sana, esercizio fisico e poi tutte le altre cose sono solo optionals!
