Not bad. Needs improvement.
In short I passed (I have prior network knowledge that helped also) but there are a few problems with the material that should be mentioned. Some of the study questions don't give the correct answer (e.g. which of these is NOT a PUBLIC ip address? and 3 of the answers are private IP addresses with the only public ip address being the desired answer). Not a big deal to someone that has a strong understanding of the material from prior knowledge but a new network person might be mislead. He also teaches that ipsec is tunneling protocol which is not true. Ipsec often works with tunneling protocols to offer security that they lack but is not in and of itself a tunneling protocol( see sybex comptia security + study guide by Emmett Dulaney pg 91). Again, a small detail but what if this misinformation is the last bit that leads an individual to fail the exam?My final complaint is that the book felt loaded in some chapters. I think it could be beneficial to break up some of the chapters a bit more in order to offer a new learner a more defined line between the topics so they aren't left with 50 pages of new material and trying to understand how they are going to compartmentalize this information in a logical way.Would I recommend this book? With a bit of hesitation and a little warning, yes.

Find something else
Like another reviewer said, the book has been rewritten so many times it is no longer cohesive. At the end of what seems like every paragraph the author says he'll explain the topic more in detail in another section or chapter. If it was just explained fully when it was first mentioned, the book would be smaller since there's so much redundant blanket or summarization text that doesn't need to be in the book. There were also quite a few spelling errors. Subnetting is covered in this book as well when it's not on the test and it's explained in a way I couldn't really grasp so I ended up learning on YouTube. I don't really think some of these problems the author has control over necessarily. I ended up failing the test by 40 points and I would not recommend this book. I have read the sybex A+ and Security+ books and passed those exams with a score of about 800. Professor Messer's cheat sheet prepared me more for this exam than this 800+ page book. Spend your money on another book.

A solid buy. Use this in tandem with other free online resources.
I like it. Finished the book a couple of weeks ago (I was also taking a Networking class and we used this book as supplemental material). Would definitely recommend this for anyone studying for the Net+ exam. Still you should also be using online resources such as Professor Messer videos and ExamCompass online practice exams.

I would be hesitant to recommend this book
It has a lot of information. But, it's overwhelming, and at times not fully explained. I also found that the questions at the the end o fhte chapters have multiple answers, but the question doesn't specify this. If you ask me a question I expect there to be one answer in a multiple choice question, unless otherwise specified. It's normal to view this way. I also don't appreciate it doesn't explain why the other multiple choice questions are wrong. It just tells you with little explanation. I would be hesitant to recommend this book

Kindle version is horrible
I bought the kindle version and it states that Comptia Network + objective 5.0 is the OSI model, which according to Comptia is 1.1. The information is mislabeled and in certain places just wrong. If I could get a refund or better yet, the correct version I would be happy

Good book-Bad binding
The author uses a very accessible writing style with humor and easily comprehensible language. However, I only gave this book three stars because of the binding. I've only had the book one week, and by the time I got to chapter three, the binding started to fall apart with several pages falling out. I've read other Sybex books, such as the Security+ and the Linux+, and those held together. I don't know if this is because this Network+ book is a lot thicker and heavier, but it's really unacceptable that a brand new book would fall apart this quickly. Hopefully Amazon will replace it.

Very good resource, though not the only one you should use. I used Myers videos and some Professor Messer stuff but added in this book as well and the combination of resources gave me everything I needed to pass. No one resource is a one-stop shop unfortunately.

Not Technical Enough; Reader has to spent too much time reading filler text
This book could best be described as "scatterbrained". The author writes in a first person narrative and falls short when it comes to providing the facts-nothing-but-the-facts.I would recommend taking an intro to networking course at your local community college over this book.

I would give a 5 because its a beautifully written and well informative book but I've noticed some of the end of Chapter questions are alittle "weird" Simply because they give you the answers, say the answer is A but in the explanation it says A and D are right but only says A is right officially if that makes sense? And Some of the questions don't say (Choose two) but in the answers, it says two are right. It also doesn't say check all that apply on a few but others it does.Apart from that its a really good book! Its filled in alot of blanks for me :)
