This reel is so smooth

This is my favorite reel. It’s my go to and serves my fishing needs well. I love the double crank and the finger trigger. Quality reel that I keep coming back to, time after time.

Purchased for the quick fire trigger but the 5 ball bearings make for a very smooth action.

I’ve gotten two of these over the last year. The second one had to be broken in a bit more than the first, but after a few hours of use, these are the best reels I’ve ever used in my 30 years of fishing. Also, they have a quick fire trigger to help beginners get used to these types of reels, which is also helpful for more advanced fishermen when it’s quite a cold day.

I have 28 Shimano Spirex reels for the 500, to the 4000, mostly the 2500. I started buying and using these reels in 1994. I prefer the front drag for strength, but I have a few ofthe rear drags as well. It is in my opinion the best balanced reel you can use, no wobble and cranks so smoothly with large fish. I've caught many Salmon over 12 pounds on the 2500, but the 4000 is better for large fish. Can cast all day one handed, 2000 or more in a day with no effort.

I've always loved using Shimano products for the last 50 years. These reels are excellent quility and work like a charm. If you've had problems with other type spinning reels I would strongly recommend these. Easy to use even for beginners. I used to exclusively fish with Shimano when I was younger and was expecting the quality to be the same. It is not. It's body is all plastic and when you reel anything in it flexes all over the place. I am actuially worried that it will brake off. It is truely made in China junk.

I purchased this reel for a young man just learning to cast and fish. Big enough too handle the fish but small enough for him to handle comfortably.
