Cats in Hats: 30 Knit and Crochet Hat Patterns for Your Kitty

I have friends who frequently post cats in hats pictures to my timeline, this would be funny. Marked many that I want to make.

Adorable, adorable, adorable way to embarrass your cat! Seriously, your cat is probably going to HATE you for this getting book but wow are you going to love it (if you like working with fiber). Or maybe you have an older, laid back kitty who isn't going to mind wearing hats. I have one like that, and I have one who won't let me get near him with a hat but he's young and he'll learn the benefits of being an old, lazy, hat-wearing cat soon enough. The patterns aren't hard, they're tiny so they work up pretty fast and can be made with scraps you have on hand, and it's hysterical (and cute) to see your cat wearing these hats. More knit hats than crochet, and the cuter patterns are knit (my opinion only, of course); but even if you don't knit, there are plenty of patterns in here for crocheters. Worth it!On a serious note, you'll probably have to do a little custom-fitting to your cat's head. Some cats have tiny heads, some have big ol' fat heads. This book gives you the skeleton (or, rather, the skull) of the pattern but you will probably have to do some sizing on your own. Don't let that deter you because it's NOT difficult. Just have a measuring tape on hand, or try it on your cat's head and be ready to rip out stitches or add them. These are small projects that take small amounts of time to perfect the size for your kitty.

All you need are reasonable knitting/crocheting skills, an obliging cat, a little scrap yarn and this book of patterns, and you will be set to amuse yourself through the winter months. The base hats are a little smaller than the patterns suggest, so if you have a medium-sized cat, use the "large" base...or just add a few rows between the ears. There's lots of room for improvisation using the basic patterns. My 10-year old wasn't any too sure about wearing a hat at first, but over the course of a few days and "hat practice" sessions of a few minutes at a time while he sat on my lap accustomed him to wearing one. Now he's content to leave it on, accepting it as one of the silly games his mama likes to play. He looks very stylish in the top hat!

Such a good book. Too bad I can’t knit

I bought this book as a gift for a crafty friend (she crochets, I knit, and we re both cat ladies), but really don't think either of us will actually make any of the hats. The great thing about this book is the hilarious photos of the cats modeling the hats. The photographer is brilliant - managing to capture the cats' looks of "get me out of here!," yet also showing the hats very clearly. The hats themselves are very witty, and if I thought any of my three cats would tolerate wearing one for more than thirty seconds, I would probably make several, as they are quick projects using yarn from one's stash, and the patterns appear to be well written.But really, buy it for the pictures.

Absolutely ridiculous and totally perfect. As a crocheter, I was a little sad to find only a third of the patterns were crochet and not knit. HOWEVER, once you understand the basic pattern of the hat part, you can typically finagle your way around creating the knit designs; a lot of it is just color choice and some added flair. For the price this is definitely worth the nonsense!

I love these hats. I recently got into crocheting but i can't read a pattern to save my life. As soon as i figure it out I'll probably make all of them. And maybe enlarge the pattern for dogs.8-25-17 Have made a few of these now. They're not too difficult, after figuring out how to read a pattern. The boys are so cute in the cowboy and the shark hat. And everyone will want one for their fur babies. Have not tried to increase the pattern yet.

可愛すぎて倒れました。(^^)編み図が多少分かれば、図案を見ながら理解出来ると思いますが、試し編みしながら、サイズ感を見て、ほどき、編み直して完成しました。写真全ての編み図が無くて残念でしたが、アレンジして色々編んでみたいです。

作りまくってます。英語に最初戸惑いましたが、事細かな指示でとても分かりやすいです。写真を見ているだけでも楽しいデス。

まだ、眺めているだけですが、たくさん作りたいと思います。基本を覚えれば、アレンジもできそうです！
