Stopped a pack of 4 large dogs in their tracks!
Recently a terrible incident occurred in Texas where a large Bullmastiff attacked and killed one small child and injured another. My daughter, husband, and their two children live in the general area where the attack took place. When I heard of the attack, I was literally sick and feared for the safety of my grandchildren. Following the attack, my daughter was not comfortable taking her two children for walks around the neighborhood because of a large population of pit bulls and rottweiler dogs in the area. I purchased from Amazon the Sabre Frontiersman Bear Attack Deterrent and had it sent to my daughter. The very day she received the cannister, she and her husband took my small grandchildren for a walk. Several blocks from their home they were confronted by a pack of four dogs that included at least two pit bulls and two other large dogs they did not have time to identify. None of the dogs had collars and all were acting very aggressively. As the barking dogs closed in on my daughter's family, my son-in-law let them have it with two short bursts of the bear attack deterrent. Three dogs were hit by the spray. One dog fell to the ground unable to see and the other three immediately retreated. The dog that collapsed to the ground partially recovered and ran from the area. The police were called and immediately responded to search for the dogs. My son-in-law who is a military doctor was so impressed that he ordered several more canisters of Sabre's Bear Attack Deterrent. My family is safe thanks to the Sabre Frontiersman Bear Attack Deterrent. This stuff works.

Planning a trip into bear country
I'm planning a spring trip in 2017, and will be camping in the Cascades and Rocky mountains. Naturally, I don't want to "feed the bears".Testing the effectiveness of the spray beforehand isn't in the cards, I'll trust that the manufacturer did their part..There are a couple of 1 star reviews that should be addressed.1 - Plastic cap breaking/coming off - Other than hitting, or dropping upside down, I don't see how this is possible. I yanked hard and twisted the cap on my can, and if feels immoveable. I'll chalk their problem up to damage.2 - "Holster dissolved" - I was expecting the holster to be poorly made. A throw-away, flimsy, P.O.S., nothing could be further from the truth. While it's not military grade, it is nicely made. The sheath is actually a wide elastic material that holds the can firmly. Little chance of it falling out with normal use. I will concede that the belt loop should be double stitched. I'll chalk their problem up to poor stitching by whoever made it. Check yours and return it immediately if poorly made, mine was fine.BTW - The belt loop on mine will take a 2 1/2 inch belt.3 - Prohibited by TSA on airline flights - Only one star because the TSA doesn't want you to take it on an airplane??? ***The warning is a good one***, but it doesn't reflect on the product. Write about the product, not your mistakes.

I will never walk my dogs without this product!
I will never carry any other product besides this one. We have been attacked twice and confronted with situations (loose, aggressive dogs) too numerous to count while daily walking our dogs. I used to carry a gel product which works well but the larger canister of this product can be used several times.... A few weeks ago we were confronted by a pit bull ...I got a pic of it as i usually report loose dogs but then he tried to approach us ...I used the spray per the directions spraying in a sweeping motion and this stopped him.... I still have plenty left... As to the quality of the loop (some other people had trouble with it breaking off) i can say that i don't carry it by the loop but only in my belt and would only touch the loop before i actually use it....I am older with arthritic fingers and can verify this product was NO problem to use..... several other mace products we tried were too hard for me to spray.....

It's a must have
This spray is a must if you plan on being in bear country. I hiked in Glacier National Park a number of years ago and I heard more than one story about how this bear spray was the only thing between the hikers I talked to and a grizzly bear.As for the 35' forget it. I tested it this fall and it might go roughly 20'. I was sitting around a campfire in the Smoky Mountains this fall, eating some fish and as careful as I though I was being sure enough I heard a bear walking around my tent later that night. After making some loud noises I came out of the tent with the spray in hand. It was to dark out to see anything without a flashlight, so all I could see was that which was right in front of the light. And all of a sudden..... sorry, no bear, the bear was gone. But I did test the spray just to make sure it worked. It did but it’s range was like I said maybe 20'. That was in the Smoky Mountain so there weren’t any grizzly bears, only brown and black bears, which are, in my opinion, an entirely different species.Brown and black bear, from all I’ve heard and read are not very aggressive. So I’m confident this spray would have done the trick in turning the bear around if any did get to close.I bought this same spray at Gander Mountain but I took it back when I seen this was $10 cheaper
