Knitter's PrideKarbonz Straight Needle Set 10", Black

I read dozens of reviews before buying these. After receiving them and knitting for a few hours I came to a few realizations. Pros: These are very lightweight and comfortable to use. They don't feel as fragile or bendable as other brands I've tried. However, there were several cons. First, the tips are metal but the end caps are plastic which was a bit disappointing for the price. Second, the nickle plating discolored after only a few hours in contact with the oils on my fingers. Finally, as another review mentioned there is a noticable seam between the metal tip and carbon fiber shaft which catches the yarn each time a stitch is moved over the spot. It might not be a problem for thicker or rougher yarn but definitely caused problems with the fine, thin variety I was using. All in all, I'm ambivalent about these needles. I don't feel the price was equal to what I got and I'm still considering returning them.

I just started knitting (I've been crocheting for 20+ years) and my first set of knitting needles were cheap and bamboo. Personally, I couldn't stand the feel of the wood and the sound of it. Not only that, but I had a hard time getting the tips of the wooden needles to slide into loops easily - it's like they weren't "pointy" enough.I got this set and I'm in love. I already have another set on a wishlist to gift to my best friend, who's also learning to knit.They're gorgeous, I love the black and silver. I love how easy it is to see the sizes on these, as well. The tips work really well for me and I haven't had a single problem getting them to slide into loops (even tight ones) like I had with the wooden needles.When I purchased this, I was a little worried about the case, because there wasn't a picture of it.The case is also really pretty - the exterior is a nice shiny silver and the interior is a clean, matching silver with black loops. The loops that hold the needles in place are available on the top and the bottom and keep the needles nice and organized. There are also extra loops for holding more needles (which I know I'll end up using).I'm very pleased with this purchase and I'd recommend it to new and experienced knitters. :)

The tips don't clank together, but they are not smooth, so they feel gritty against each other. The tips' tapers are short so the loops don't travel up the tapers toward the carbon fiber portions as easily as the Knitter's Pride metal Cubics needles. The joints between the tip and carbon fiber are not always smooth, so most yarns catch at that spot. The carbon fiber is a bit draggy.This manufacturer's offerings are inconsistent between products. In this package, the metal label for the case fell off, the zipper got stuck at its ends unless held just so, and the elastic loop strips are so tight and far enough apart that taking the needles out of the case can scratch them on the metal zipper teeth. One of the tapers had a dent in it.I had high hopes for this set. I've tried a whole lot of Knitters' Pride/ KnitPro needles, and the Cubic Platina fixed or interchangeable needles have proved to be the best for me. For some reason, the chrome coating on them is smoother and slicker than Knit Picks' nickel plating.

These knitting needles are beautiful, and lightweight. They glide easily when knitting, and love the more pointed tips. When I bought them it said sold by Big Blue Supplies and I sent them a message because on the tip of the 4.5 mm needle was all scratched up, and have not gotten a resolution yet. Now I see they were sold by VirVentures, so I guess I will contact them, I love the set, but very disappointed that one of the needle tips have a scratches on it.Lee

Love all Knitters pride needles I've been working with these and I absolutely LOVE them, I even love them more than the Addi Turbo Clicks and the Chaiogoo I just bought. Those are inter-changeable, but I really love the way these feel and how the yarn is just perfect with the needed. I am going to get some Karbonz Inter-changeable. I highly recommend the Knitters Pride Karbonz even over Chaiogoo and Addi (not that these are bad) it's just the karbonz are better!

I was using my ebony (to die for!) circulars and stepped on my no-longer-produced size 5 tips and broke one. Can't even find them on eBay. Since I was working on a smallish item, I went for straights and this met my price point/quality calculation: stronger than bamboo/rosewood, cheaper than ebony.I've only knitted on them with wool so far, and the stickiness factor is just right.

These needles are wonderful. They are lightweight and easy to work with. I was looking for a needle with a sharper point than the wooden needles I had been using, and these are perfect. I have been knitting for decades and am so glad I found these! My new favorites!

I have several pairs of the Karbonz needles and have loved them so much I decided to finally get the full set. I am glad I did. They are great. The only thing that I did not like about these is the smell after opening them. It is a manufacturing thing and so air them out. I walked around in my yard waving them around like I was guiding an airplane. With that being said, they did not go flying out the packaging. Rock on. Stinky or not I love these needles.

I received these yesterday in the mail and have been knitting up a storm with themI just love the quality of these knitting needles. All the sizes I will ever need!!

I love these extremely light weight needles.... smooth as silk.It would’ve good if they were a tad longer.
