Rattler Scaletech Snake Protection Chaps (Green, Husky/Regular)

Very well made snake protection but just NOT practical for my application. I am an average sized guy, 5'10"/165, and the Husky/Regular, though a little large, fit okay. Don't think I will wear the things much do to the bulkiness, weight and the fact that they are not practical in snake climates...hot and humid. I have to walk approximately .5 to 1.0 mile to my favorite fishing hole...through high grass and through a fast flowing creek. I work out and run regularly...these chaps wore me out...I had to take a couple breaks during the walk...I was beat!!! My suggestion: seeing that the greatest percent of snake bites occur below the knee and around the ankles...purchase the lower leg protection that attaches around your ankle and over your boot and just under the knee...lighter, cooler, easier to maneuver, simply more practical.A heads-up to Amazon buyers...be careful purchasing items via the 1-click option. I ran into a little problem. Being in a hurry, I used the 1-click option on a purchase where the items in my "cart" were available for free shipping; I was subsequently charged $14.00 in shipping fees via the 1-click option. The only way to right this wrong is to cancel the order and reorder using the longer check out method and selecting the free shipping option.

I feel I am totally protected from any kind of snake bites. I am the property manager of a thousand acre cattle ranch and I can now do my job without worrying about any kind of snake bites.

After encountering a rattler that was big enough to throw a strike well above my snake boots if it chose to do so, I decided it was time to get something a little bigger. This was what I finally settled on. They appear to be well made and should do the trick if I ever encounter another such snake in my rambling around in the woods and do not see him in time to avoid an issue. They fit well over my jeans that I like to wear and shouldn't be too uncomfortable to wear all day. They are obviously going to be stiff and somewhat uncomfortable, but hey, getting bit way out in the woods by yourself kinda sucks worse, so it's a trade off, I guess!

I got regular/regular for me and regular/short for my wife. We were exploring some family owned land in Missouri which has not been used in many many years with lots of thick brush. We did not want to take any chances with snake bites since the nearest hospital was about an hour away. These prevent snake bites only on the lower portion where it has plastic sheets sewn into the fabric. The entire chap is made with thick material that protected us from thorns and other sharp things occurring in nature. I also purchased the gaiters but decided they did not offer enough protection so I ended up using the chaps. Don't forget to have thick snake proof boots. My wife fell and almost twisted her ankle but fortunately she was wearing good boots.

I found the lower part of the chaps unnecessarily wide but maybe this is because I wore them over snake boots to begin with. The panel design is unique and effective. Upper material is extremely thin but does provide a waterproof cover when walking in high grass & ferns. Not a bad purchase for the price. Economical protection.

Not as hot as all the people are talking about. I clear brush outside of San Antonio where it is regularly over 100 degrees and they are not exceptionally hot. They do not breath but they do appear very durable.The size is very slender for what is written. Get one size larger than you need.

I wasn't sure what size to purchase. I am 5'4", 125 lbs. I decided to purchase the regular/regular size. The length and coverage are perfect. Product was listed as new with a water damage to the box due to a flood, however the water damage did not penetrate the actual product. I am very happy with my purchase!
