Great design and a decent price
In general, magnetic knife bars can add to the look of your kitchen because displaying knives on a bar tends to just look fairly nice. Many bars themselves however aren't that nice looking or are simply utilitarian and plain. This one has a fantastic design, visually, and holds knives really well without being too strong. The two dark ends are plastic covers hiding the screws and can be removed (provided you have something thin to slide underneath the edge and pry up). I used my nail to remove both sides without a problem though I suspect most people won't be moving it around that much. Also, there isn't any rubberized padding or anything so your knives are going to be resting and sliding against a bare metal surface (the lines in the middle aren't raised, your knife will rest against the exterior edge surrounding the bar). My knives aren't that expensive so I'm not that concerned but it is probably best to pull straight out and when returning them place them exactly where you want them to avoid sliding the knife up or down against the metal. As far as size goes I'm the kind of person who needs some sort of symmetry. I only have 4 knives on my 15" version right now. They are spaced out evenly and I could probably comfortably add a 5th but beyond that it would look to crowded for my taste and having the little bit of extra space makes it easier to place the knives without having to reposition them against the metal edges. The plastic anchors, like most, aren't that resilient so you'll need to drill a sufficiently large hole to easily insert them without making it too big where they don't fit. Any sort of force will bend them. The instructions don't tell you what size drill bit to use but I used a 5/16th of an inch one and then just angled it a bit if I had any difficulty in getting the anchor to seat properly. A completely flush anchor is important when installing because you'll want the bar to sit flat against your wall or else it will rock/move when you pull a knife off. Unfortunately a live in an older building and the wall apparently isn't even where I installed mine so it isn't as solid as I would like.

Excellent quality. I suggest bigger size though. Also, use your own screw.
This is a very solid, very heavy knife magnet. It weighs at least twice as much as I expected. The magnet is just the right strength: it can hold a great big long and thin bread knife (cutco) solidly, but when you want to pull off anything, it comes off without a problem. The little plastic end things just conceal a hole through which you put a screw. It comes with one of those plastic-and-screw drywall hanging mounts. The screw is long enough that you could go into a stud if they actually lined up, but most likely you will use the drywall thing.I've seen some people complain about this drywall mount and I understand why. You drill a hole and then you force the plastic in and then screw the screw in, just like all drywall mounts. The problem is, the plastic thing is just a bit bigger than the drill bit that corresponds to this size. The next size up would be too big. If you try and pound the plastic in, it bends and deforms. Maybe the problem is that this is set up for a metric drill bits or something?Anyway, these drywall screws cost like 2 cents each. Do yourself a favor and do what I did: just use one you have around the house or buy some at the hardware store if you don't have any. I mounted this using generic drywall screw/mounts and it's solid as a rock. The screw holes in this are very generic so any reasonable drywall mount will work fine. This is a very simple, very solid design. All metal, welded together, nothing to break or lose. I'm pleased. There is a ridge around the edge that actually makes contact with the knife blade. It's metal. This hasn't been a problem (scratching the knife) yet, but I still wish it was lined with plastic or something just to be sure you don't mar the knife surface.Anyway, my wife immediately put 9 knifes on this. I bought this size because our kitchen is small and I didn't think we had room for a bigger one, but the 9 knives are quite crowded, so I now wish I had gotten the bigger size. Probably what I'll do is get a second one later.I'll buy the same brand. It's excellent quality.

Worked with a little modification
Looks nice and works great. So for those interested, I really didn't want to drill into our wall to hang this since we just got new glass tile backsplash. After some looking on the internet, I found other people who said they have hung their magnetic knife holders with Command strips so I figured that'd be the best options for a "temporary" hold. But to make it work you have to add something to make the back flush (the spots where the screws go in the back are the only part that would touch the wall). So I got a strip of 1/4"x1"x2' oak from the local hardware store. Turns out you really need like 1/2" thick strip, but since I basically had to cut my strip in half to make it fit, I just doubled it up. I would recommend the 1/2" though. Then I just used epoxy glue to secure the wood to the back. I let it cure overnight so there wouldn't be any issues. Then I attached 4 medium command strips, evenly spaced, along the back. I ended up having to also super glue the command strips to the wood, because the first time I tried it they detached from the wood after a few hours and the strip fell. But once I super glued the strips to the wood (not the wall though) it held just fine. It's been up for several days now and I've had no problem. I did weigh everything and the strip + knives is about 5 lbs, and the command strips with all 4 should hold 12 lbs so in theory it should be good.

Great magnetic knife bar
Arrived as expected, built well, doesn't feel flimsy and has a good weight to it.Because of my kitchen layout, I was only able to get one end into a stud and I screwed the other end in with a drywall anchor. I would have gotten the larger bar but I didn't have enough wall space in my small kitchen. It does comfortably hold all 8 of my kitchen knives (1x bread knife, 4x ~7" knives, 1x 5" knife, 2x paring knives) and one of my kitchen scissors with a little bit of arranging. The magnets are quite strong and holds things securely. I feel pretty confident that it's not going to drop or slide my knives down if I don't stick them on carefully.

Fantastic magnet, used my own hardware.
Didn't use the hardware that came with; the provided screws were too long to affix the bar under a cabinet in my kitchen. The magnet itself is fantastic quality! It holds my knives very securely - they even hang tightly by just their spines, though I wouldn't try that for regular storage. :P This knife magnet does exactly what I wanted it to and was a fantastic purchase overall.

Works well and easy to attach. Seems a bit pricey, hence only 4 stars.
