The Inn at Ocean's Edge

Great book
A vacation to Sunset Cove was her way of celebrating and thanking her parents. After all, Claire Dellamore's childhood was like a fairytale. But with the help of Luke Elwell, Claire discovers that fairytale was really an elaborate lie . . .The minute she steps inside the grand Inn at Ocean's Edge, Claire Dellamare knows something terrible happened there. She feels it in her bones. Her ensuing panic attack causes a scene, upsetting her parents. Claire attempts to quiet her nerves with a walk on the beach, to no avail. She's at too great a distance to make out details, but she believes she witnesses a murder on a nearby cliff. When local police find no evidence of foul play, they quickly write off the "nervous" woman's testimony as less than credible. But Luke Elwell, home on leave from the Coast Guard, has reason to believe Claire. Years ago when his mother went missing, Luke's father suspected she'd been murdered. So when an employee of the grand hotel doesn't show up for work, Luke steps in to help Claire track down the missing woman. As Claire and Luke put together the pieces of a decades-old mystery, they discover that some family secrets refuse to stay buried. And some passions are worth killing for. What a great book. Claire finds out that she was kidnapped and was gone for a year and it all happened at Sunset Cove. She keeps having flashbacks and remembers bits and pieces of what happened to her. Luke and Claire discover that her past and his mothers are connected. There are so many twists and turns with this story that it kept me guessing and surprised at every turn. I don’t want to spoil anything but I never expected one turn of events.I would recommend this book to everyone. I am excited about reading the next book in the series.I was given this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review

A Twisty Mystery
Claire Dellamere's disappeared from her birthday party when she was four. She was returned a year later with no memory of the event, or of the missing year. When she follows her father to a business meeting in Folley Shoals, Maine, places she's never been and people she's never met suddenly seem familiar. This is the opening of Colleen Coble's The Inn at Ocean's Edge. This mystery had more twists and turns than a roller coaster and a wide choice of suspects to keep you wondering. This was a fast paced read with an interesting and engaging main character and a stalwart hero that made for good chemistry. The secondary characters, including a young orca, were easy to sympathize with and all the antagonists - of whom there were plenty - were gloriously unlikable. I wanted them all to be guilty. As is common in Collen Coble's books, the spiritual message was clearly discerned. In this case God's love and faithfulness through the most difficult of situations is clearly seen and appreciated by several main characters, including Claire and Luke. This was an easy read and a nice way to spend an afternoon. Collen Coble never disappoints - I'll be eagerly awaiting her next.

Clean mystery
I felt like I was experiencing a storm at sea as I navigated all the twists and turns in this book. Each character seemed to cling to their families during all their problems. It kept me guessing and I enjoyed it!

Deb's Dozen - Claire, Luke, Megan, and Kate. Murder combined with Mystery. It's all relative.
Deb's Dozen - Claire, Luke, Megan, and Kate. Murder combined with Mystery. It's all relative.Claire Dellamare comes to the Hotel Tourmaline on the island of Folly Shoals, ME, and almost immediately suffers a panic attack. She feels something terrible happened to her here or will be happening. After her dad, Harry, also there for the meeting to discuss a merger with another firm, calms her down and gets her to her room, she feels better.Taking a walk to further calm herself, Claire ventures down by the ocean's edge where she sees two people penning up a baby orca. Furious, she storms down telling them they can't do that only to meet Luke Ellwell and his sister, Megan, who have rescued the baby and plan to nurse it back to health. Chagrined, Claire apologizes and heads back to the Hotel—but never arrives!Meanwhile, Kate Mason is planning a surprise for her mom's birthday. She and her friend, Shelley, remodel her mom's closet. As they're unloading the existing closet, Kate finds a box with her things in it she'd forgotten she had—including a well-loved doll. Hoping for approval and maybe a hug from her mother, Kate is once again disappointed. They have a big argument and her mom storms out. What is Kate to do? Why won't her mom let her contact her dad? This is Colleen Coble at her best. Lots of suspense, twists, turns, murder, and mystery all wrapped up with surprises and romance. I read the book at one sitting—couldn't put the novel down. If the rest of the series is as good as The Inn at Ocean's Edge, I'm going to be reading a lot more Colleen Coble books in the future. You will not want to start this book in the evening or you'll be up all night. Five out of Five Stars!Thomas Nelson Publishers gave me a copy of this book in exchange for my candid review.

What a Terrific Story
This is the first book I have read by Colleen Coble. It is a terrific book filled with mystery and suspense. If I had not been reading it on Kindle, I would have been constantly peeking ahead so I am glad I was reading my kindle so I could get the full impact of the story. This author delves into family and people who are like family, it explores the strengths and weaknesses in people, and it is a love story, too. I cannot wait to get started on another Sunset Cove Novel. I love books whose settings are on or near the water. I did not get tripped up on grammar and spelling as it was very well edited. It also was a clean, wholesome book. There are some wonderful thought provoking discussion questions at the end. Happy reading!

A deep, meaningful suspense novel
This story has so much depth to it and so many twists and turns. One is left feeling sad and happy at the same time. The complex family situations just makes one realise when you have a family that lives in unity one is extremely blessed.Lots of intrigue, suspense yet through it all just understanding how God can bring all things together for good because we are in Him.

Wow!
There were definitely a lot of twists and turns with this book . . . some I kinda figured out but others that came out of absolutely nowhere. It was definitely a wild ride, this!I liked that Claire and Luke (and Kate) were able to find out that the debate between nature and nurture was not nearly as important as taking responsibility for their own actions, learning from their mistakes, and allowing God to lead them.
