Wow, fast and easy, once installed, turned the nuts slowly, heard the pop and it was off. Just like that.
[ Update Aug 2018] I have since used it on three different lawn mowers (20" murray, 22" Murray, and 21 " craftsman) and have the same easy results. Make sure you have the self tapping screws really screwed into the flywheel, or else as you turn down on the nuts it will start tilting/popping up. Also I would turn the nut downward on one end and then turn the other side nut. And slowly like always once you hear that "pop" that flywheel good as off. Though it comes with 4 nuts, I have never found what to do with the other two nuts that would be on the bottom end of the bolts, below the black bracket plate. I have always just left them there on the bolt without doing any tightening of them, whereas with the other nuts that are above the black bracket plate are what i was turning downward to get the flywheel to "pop". I still find using this faster and easier than using pry bar and bang it. [Original Review] Works great. Saved me alot of time when I was getting nowhere with the other cheap skate methods of hitting the shaft with a hammer and a pry bar. Do yourself a favor, just get this and you will get that flywheel off in less than 3 minutes. The bolts are self tapping and cuts into the holes of the flywheel with no problem. The instructions on how to use is really really skimpy with just a diagram of how it should be assembled to use. Just go to YouTube and find one of the videos on how to properly use. When you do screw down the bolts into the flywheel go slow and use a socket wrench so you have better control to keeping it vertical and turning slow. Also like others have said, when you hear like a "pop" sound, its distinct, once you bolted them down, the black bracket against the engine spindle and you slowly tighten the nuts alternately, its done, loosen just like that. Listen for that pop and you are done and can remove the flywheel easily. Yeah, it seems to cost alot for a black colored metal, 4 nuts and self tapping bolts, but heck we talking about convenience and fast removal, just like that. Which if you do hit alot of tree roots or rocks with your lawnmower, you will probably need to use this again to replace the flywheel key....so its not a one time use.... :-) Used it on a 6.5 hp Craftsman with 21 inch blade lawnmower. Easily popped the flywheel off. Replace the sheared key and was done fast.

Does not fit even though B&S Website says it does
After acquiring this item because the B&S website specifically listed it as a suitable part for my motor model number, it turned out to be completely inaccurate. The distance between bolt openings on mine is 3 inches, while this puller only measures half of that. I've gone through the process of purchasing and returning every flywheel puller that B&S sells, and it's become quite frustrating. It seems like they intentionally make it challenging for customers to repair their own engines. The lack of effort put into product descriptions across all their listings is evident and concerning. It appears that B&S is willing to accept numerous product returns, causing B&S to have staggering losses due to significant expenses in lost two-way shipping and return fees and products and that must be disposed of or repackaged. B&S prefers to waste buyers time and energy buying a part only having to return it. Does anyone have a brain at B&S or are they all corporate robots? One can't help but wonder if they have someone with minimal qualifications handling their online presence in a dark cellar.

Would recommend using a 1/2"โ x 2" (length) fine-thread bolt and ...
Worked well. Would recommend using a 1/2"โ x 2" (length) fine-thread bolt and nut, Grade 8. No large bolt pictured with product, none was expected. But it would have been nice. I purchased the nut and bolt myself and went to work. I had no difficulties with the 1/4" self-tapping bolts (I used a dash of WD-40 and cutting oil). I opted for the fine threaded centre bolt due to it requiring less torque to turn, as the cost of more turns. I threaded the nut onto the bolt and held it in place with a 3/4" wrench, tightened it to the bottom of the puller tool, then began tightening the bolt down itself. The nut simply acted as thread to make the bolt pull down onto the crankshaft and push the tool up. The flywheel didn't even require a half turn of the wrench to pop loose. Hopefully this description helps anyone else who is confused about how to use this tool. I used it essentially like a claw-wheel puller. I did find videos showing you to use the 1/4" bolts in a similar way, tightening them evenly with the tool against the top of the crankshaft, then gently turning the bottom nuts upward. I suppose this might work, but might be prone to break the bolts.

Worked to Perfection
The tool worked as should. Easily installed and pulled the flywheel loose. No more banging and prying from now on. I tapped the hole myself 1/4 - 20p. Hand screwed in to bolts and tightened with a ratchet. Thought it would be a struggle dealing with a partially sheared key however the flywheel popped loose after a few turns of the 7/16 wrench. Love this thing!

A handy, basic tool to keep around if you are a do-it-yourselfer.
This is a nice tool to have if you ever need to pull the flywheel off a Briggs engine. They donโt take up a lot of room in the tool box. Saves a lot of frustration when you need to remove a flywheel.

Simple. Self taping bolts.
No need to tap the fly wheel. Great stuff.

Easily and safely remove flywheel
I easily and safely removed the flywheel on my Briggs and Stratton lawnmower engine with this tool. I strongly recommend it. I figured that a broken flywheel will cost around 100$ to replace. Simply not worth the risk to try to remove it with a crowbar or another tool.
