From selling that model we learned a few things. 1. People wanted a less expensive winder than the $400 models available. 2. The plastic version was not strong enough for most of the applications out there. 3. There was a need for a better model that was stronger and larger The result is our Model 400M Metal based winder that is larger, stronger, and even better than ever. The 400M addresses all the issues that have been brought up from a smaller, weaker model. "Spokes" are now heavy duty aluminum instead of plastic The hubs are now made with injection molded Poly Propylene which is nearly unbreakable and now have supports on both sides of the spokes. The mount is now made of steel and secures easily to a workbench or board with the supplied screws The base pipe is made of 3/4" Stainless Steel and not only looks good, it really stands up to whatever you can throw at it. The axel area "Tee" is made of Stainless Steel with custom plastic PLA inserts as bearings. All Joints are secured with metal screws made to last. In short, the 400M should hold up against any other winder in its class. We are proud to offer this less expensive option built with high quality in mind.
