Better display but smaller font
The display has better resolution and contrast from the previous generation - but the input-line font has been reduced by about 30%. Would have given 5 stars if Casio had retained a 'legacy' font size. Apart from that, calculator is intutive to use and has all the functions that i will ever need.

exactly what you'd expect...
I was looking to order 2 calculators for my sons to take into their exams, and these seem to suit them. They fit the bill. The only gripe I have (I should have checked more closely) is that this calculator doesn't have solar cells for repowering themselves so they will need new batteries at some point. My fault for not checking more closely.

Good but needs solar!
I though all calculators had solar panels in them these days. This is a good calculator and the battery life is quoted as 2 years at 1 hour a day but to change the battery you have to take the whole back of the calculator off and life could be extended with a solar panel. It is non programmable which is essential in many exams etc.

Better Contrast than the fx-83GT PLUS
I bought this becaue I'm doing a maths degree and I think my previous calculator must be ready to give up the ghost any time soon. The screen is the same size as the PLUS model, but the output text is smaller - HOWEVER, the contrast and sharpness is way better, so overall, the screen is much, much easier to read. I wish it had a backlight (or front light, or ANY light) but Casio hasn't seen fit to furnish us with one yet, so we'll all have to keep squinting at the tiny numbers and hope that one day they'll listen to us.

These are great for school needs, and son actually told me school use these as spares
The box states these are accepted by schools for use in examinations at school, so it gives children a chance to get used to their calculator and the functions, and then to use it within their exams, would highly recommend this for any parent looking for a calculator of good quality - I have bought cheaper ones in the past and hence the need to replace as they break easily.

Important to be conversant with the display configuration settings.
This is one in a range of calculators that may be used for any secondary school maths for GCSE and A levels and beyond. It does not have a graphics capability but the functions that are available cover a wide range of applications. The display is configuarable for linear presentation or as a math presentation found in textbooks. It is important to pay attention to the display configuration as not all functions work in all all confugurations. However, it is easy to use once the display configuration is mastered. The Casio range in probably the de-facto standard for calculators and it is easy to operate different models as they all use similar settings. I would fully recommend this calculator for school and college alike.

Needed a new scientific calculator ASAP and this did not disappoint
I had a very old casio scientific calculator (20 years old!) that eventually gave up the ghost. Unfortunately it stopped working 5 days before a big exam which I needed a calculator for, so after searching online I brought this one. Its a great calculator. Works as it should and is easy to programme to the different modes if you need to. Casio is a great make. I saw this calculator in a supermarket a week later and it was double the price I paid!So this is a great calculator for a great price. Hopefully it will last another 20 years!

Loving this calculator!!!!
I really like this calculator - sleek and elegant looking but the drawback is that the size of the display has shrunk :(
