Viola in the Spotlight (Viola series Book 2)

Viola in Reel Life...Take Two!
I enjoyed this book, the second in the series...I'm not sure if there will only be a trilogy, or if four or five books are to be written. At any rate, the adventures of Viola and her friends in New York, about as far away from South Bend, Indiana as you can get culturally, if not physically, has been told in the reviews here before mine, so I won't repeat what's already been said. The characters who didn't play too much of a part in the first book, VIOLA IN REEL LIFE, are fleshed out more in this book and add much to the plot. The reader gets to know them better, which makes this novel move a little faster than the first one, I think. Too, Adriana Trigiani brings in a different sort of conflict. One concerning the love of Viola's friend Caitlin (whose parents are strict Indians) for Maurice (a boy from England living in Viola's house while his father works on a play on Broadway) which results in a clash between the two cultures and a strain on the relationship between Viola and Caitlin's parents. There also is a sad but tender sub-story that makes that part of this book more than just a humorous adolescent romp around The Big Apple. I do recommend that the first book be read before this one, so you can understand what the characters are talking about and what the Prefect Academy back in Indiana that Viola had reluctantly attended during her freshman year has to do with the story. That being said, I give it 4.5 stars.

I passed it on to my teen niece after and she loved it too
I have read almost all of Adriana Trigiani's books. This one is for young adult/teen. I passed it on to my teen niece after and she loved it too. This book is the second in a series about Viola and her love of filming, and typical lessons learned as a teen. Loved all the characters, especially the grandmother.

I think it's a wonderful book for teen girls
I think it's a wonderful book for teen girls. I read both stories and enjoyed them and thought how much my 13 year old granddaughter would enjoy reading them. I will purchase both books for her for reading this summer. Of course they don't have the depth that her other books have, but they are for teens.

Beatuifully written!
I love all of Tringiani's books! I have read them all to date. What I did not expect was this was a book for 'young adults'. It did not prevent me for reading it and enjoying it. I actually felt myself tearing up at Viola's first wake and funeral. Well done, again!

Great read!
I really love Adrianna Trigiani's books. The Viola series brings you back to high school and being 15 again. You are drawn into Viola's world. You can relate to her character s, they are "real". An easy read.

great author
I am reading every book by this author that I can get my hands on. I hate to put her books down, they are that good! I don't normally like fiction when the main character is a teenager but made an exception in this case. It's a good book but, of course, not in the league with The Shoemaker's Wife.

Real teenage girls.
These girls speak like real girls. Their stories are really interesting. I like books by Adriana Trigiani and was out of grown up books by her so I decided to tead tthis one and I'm glad I did. Her characters come to life and hold your interest. You really care about their friendships and problems. You even care about their families. A great book for teens and adults.

Very good story of teenage girl's adventures
Very good story of teenage girl's adventure s at a private bordering school in the Midwest. It concentrated on Viola's ability to fit in with the other girls and her coming of age where boys were concerned.
