Droll Yankees New Generation Green Metal Seed Feeder - 5.5" L x 5.5" W x 27" H

A bear stopped by and destroyed my old 6-station Droll Yankees feeder. I was hoping to replace it with the same model, but the "New Generation" feeder with the same number of stations is far smaller capacity-wise, and the plastic is much thinner vs. the old feeder as well.I used to buy Droll Yankees because they were solid feeders that lasted for many years. I can't see this feeder lasting nearly as long. I guess I need to find another manufacturer.Another fine brand gets sold and cheapened.

I've used Droll Yankee tube feeders for 30 years and find that the quality of the product has dropped off significantly. This 27" feeder had a defective bail, or cap holder, right out of the box. The cap would not slide freely up the bail so that I could fill the feeder. I had to remove the bail and bend it to the point that the cap would slide up and down without binding. A shorter Droll Yankee tube feeder that I had used before this purchase lasted all of 2 months. The screw that holds the perch that the birds stand on while eating kept coming loose and then the perch fell apart. I replaced it several times but the last time the perch fell off a squirrel chewed a massive hole in the plastic tube itself in order to eat the sun oil seeds within. The feeder became useless. In a cost versus quality consideration, Droll Yankee has lost me as a customer. Sadly, it just isn't worth it anymore.

The product is sturdy, easily filled. The birds like it.

Droll Yankees makes the best bird feeders. That said, this one came wrapped flimsy in some brown paper and the top hang wire was bent. I was able to mostly straighten it out and I'm keeping it, but it should have been packaged better for shipping. DY feeders cost more because they are better quality, but they still need to be packaged better for shipment.

I have 3 of these bird feeders and they have generally held up well, however, the third I bought recently the bird perch broke off because a squirrel put pressure on it I suppose. Firstly they are supposed to be squirrel proof and secondly, they are guaranteed to be repaired or replaced if damaged by a squirrel. I notified Droll Yankee Customer Service, sent in pictures and documentation, but they did not repair it and I ended up having to buy a replacement perch myself. The feeder works well as the birds love it, but if it breaks....just plan on paying to fix it yourself. You won’t get support from Droll Yankee.

This is my second purchase of this feeder. I purchased another a few years ago and it has held up extremely well. Very easy to refill - top just flips open and you dump seed into it.

There's no better quality than that of Droll Yankees bird feeders. I bought my first one 30 years ago and it's still going strong. This feeder is no exception. They cost a little more but in the corner of my garden shed where cheap bird feeders go to die there are none by Droll Yankees

I have several Droll Yankee bird feeders in various sizes. They are sturdy and last for years, but most of all the birds love them!
