Moebius Mini Spindrift Model Kit

The media could not be loaded.              Nice Spindrift kit - LOUSY decals. It's WAY too small, but far improved over the earlier larger versions - nothing like the nightmare trying to get pieces to line up in the old ones. HOWEVER, I've been building since '69 and I know BAD decals when I see 'em - still good and wet, they stressed, tore and flaked just trying to follow the curvature of the ship. I can't blame the seller - Amazon was kind enough to issue a partial credit. Hopefully TSDS after market decals will work - I have used their decals before in a large Flying Sub build and they did very well. The Moebius decals actually messed up my glossy finish and I have work to do before appplying new ones. Nothing fancy to the lighting - just "cheapo" Chinese LEDs hot glued in place with a couple of resistors running off a 9v.

I like the size of this model. 1/64 scale. You can hold it in the palm of your hand. I collect model kits and I prefer the smaller scale for display purposes. This Spindrift model is about 5 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide. It has fine detailing and even an interior. This model kit is small enough for display and large enough to light. Great kit!

When I was a kid I had the larger Aurora model kit of the Spindrift. I loved it. When this little guy came out, I had to buy it. It is highly detailed and just wonderful. It has a full interior you can see inside, but it's a cardboard print, which is highgly appropriate considering at this scale you'd probably not want to model a full interior anyway. But it is a beautiful model, and even includes a very delicate and delightful antenna.I have bought two of these so far. Built one up fully, and intend to send the other to a friend who is a fan of this ship.Thank you, Moebius!

Great kit of an old favorite. It's not just a scaled down version of the Aurora/Polar Lights kit, it's been "corrected" in several ways; dome shape, no raised/recessed areas for stripes, the weird gadget at the end of the pitot tube all redone to match the look of the original filming minature. Arrived fast and well packaged. Very pleased.

I love my spindrift! This is a small kit but if you are willing to put in the effort you can make a great display kit or diorama. I ordered the photoetch detail set as well to make it the best it can be!
