I Love It. You Might Not.
I had just received a cherry Amazon Kindle Fire HDX on eBay for pennies and I waited for it to arrive to make sure I was satisfied with it and then I went to order a case. You are presented with myriad options on here. I really didn't want a generic Belkin. On the other hand, I didn't want something clever like a case that looks like an old book. So after reading the reviews and swallowing hard, I plunked down $45 for the case, half of what I paid for a mint HDX (the person did a poor job listing it).I was a little dubious as reviews seemed to be 50-50.I am quite happy with it. The magnets held the HDX right in place and it is great in both horizontal and vertical modes. If I were to have a complaint, and it is picayune, is it doesn't stand well on the glass dining room table. But putting a paper towel under it fixes the problem. The front cover panel itself sticks well, also with magnets. At first you think it is flimsy, but it is quite strong. The origami is clever and once you "get it" (read the insert that says "read first"), you are fine. I am pretty careful with my HDX, though I fling it onto my bed. No problems. I am sure one of these days I will drop it and I am sure it will be fine. You are in for $40 no matter what you do if you get an HDX. I think this product is either up your alley or not at all. No in between. Though I don't know if it is a production error or what, but the people who say the Kindle pops out baffle me. You have to have to strength of Samson to pull it out once it is in.I like mine. Do I recommend it? Well, there aren't too many options out there. Of the choices, I like this best.

Strong, well though-out design
Pros:+ Clever and well-designed+ Sturdy and resilient with a resilient finishCons:- Adds a slight bit of bulk and weight to an otherwise thin and lightweight device (but I'm not sticking a tablet in my pocket, so it's ok.)I haven't tried any other cases, but hopefully I won't have to. This case seems like it will last for quite a while. No annoying snapping plastic tabs into one another or gingerly trying to snap flanges into device creases worrying about damaging the finish. The case was out of the packaging and on my HDX within 5 seconds -- no exaggeration. In that regard, the human factors get an A+. The origami fold is such a clever concept and creates some really nice line features on the cover. It takes some practice to commit the correct folding direction though. When you get it, you get it for good, though. The smooth, velvety inner materials ensure the screen and casing are well-protected. Good job on this one, Amazon! Worth the cost of two lattes over the other third-party cases, in my opinion.

A very clever design for the Kindle Fire HDX case
This excellent case is made to be used with the new Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7" tablet. The front cover when folded becomes a stand which props up the Kindle in either the "portrait" or in the "landscape" position. The name "Origami Case" comes from the clever way the front cover bends when it forms the stand or the prop for the case. The case appears to be magnetic and when you lay your Kindle down into the back cover it is then held in place by the magnets. The Kindle is easy to remove from the case by grapping on to the edges of the Kindle and pulling it away from the back cover. My only complaint through, is that the stand portion of the case will only allow you to prop up the Kindle at one particular angle only. This angle is not always the most convenient angle at which to view your Kindle. This can be rectified however, by placing something such as a book or other item underneath the stand portion of the case until you obtain the angle that is most comfortable for viewing the screen. The new Kindle Fire HDX is a great tablet and I think that Amazon as created a real winner here in the tablet market. The Origami case is an excellent case for this amazing new Kindle tablet.

Good when you get used to it
Initial reaction when putting the Fire HDX in it is...what a hunk of junk - Boy did they get one over on me. When unpacking you get the origami cover and it does not seem to lay flat so that begins the uneasy feeling. Popping the HDX into the case it just does not seem to form fit to the Fire HDX. You start to feel all the curves they put into the device are lost once in the case. Also the non-clicking fitting of the HDX into the case makes you feel like it will fall out and you will spend a few minutes seeing how tough the magnetic hold is.You also see exposed edges to the HDX sticking out and a spacing between the back top of the case and the back of the HDX. The spacing causes concern in that dust, particles, crumbs kids boogers whatever will get trapped back there. The speakers, no slots for them in the case so the spacing on top is to allow the sound to escape. When having the cover folded back behind the case it put the HDX to sleep once in a while. That is a flaw and could cause me to return the case if it happens often while reading. Odd in that it has not happened since the first day. Put this one in the who knows category.Once I perfected the origami stand...lol actually looking at the three step directions helps it works great-stunningly sturdy. Only time will tell if leaving in that position for an extended time will effect it laying flat when closed. If my HDX was going to be traveling a lot this would not be the case for me - the cover when closed has enough play that it can shift(due to the hinge size)and expose a corner of the screen. The HDX does not sit flat in this case like the Amazon slim case for the 8.9HD(I was praying this case would be the same) it actually sits up on an angles so when looking at it from the side the lower portion(camera on top) sits in the case deeper than the top - again giving you that feeling that it is not in right. It also makes you think that the case is making it thicker than it should be.Overall I like it. I would prefer form fitting with the slots for the speakers and would like to see the hinge material beefed up as I am adjusting the cover to align perfectly every time I close it.EDIT - 10/20/13So the cover folded back has put my HDX to sleep three times today - seems it happens right after turning it on then after being on for a while it stops. Regardless this case will probably be going back as the HDX will be a Christmas gift from my wife(luckily I have a fire and 8.9HD to amuse me until then when I can pry them from the kids and a regular kindle for reading) so I will wait for new cases to come out and try. Honestly I have considered returning the HDX due to the purple haze down the sides that is noticeable when reading- again being I wont be using this full time for another 2 months I am thinking they may correct this problem.
