T-34

One of the best action movies I have seen in a long time.Short version: Tank on tank duels with Bullet Time from the Matrix. Visually stunning.The Germans decide to use actual Russians and a Russian tank to train new tankers as to how Russians fight. A crew is selected from prisoners of war (and *how* they got there is one hell of a story in the first half of the movie). They are given a captured Soviet T-34 tank to clean up, fix up and use as "bait" for training.But...the Germans overlooked there were still six live main gun rounds tucked away someplace they didn't know about and the Soviet tankers hatch a scheme to break out and get across the border to meet the advancing Soviets in Czechoslovakia.The German who had the original idea is going to be taken out and shot if he doesn't get them back (and probably even then) so one hell of a hunt ensues along with some mind boggling tank on tank action.Good dubbing, keeps the flavor of the characters. Movie is intense and violent with a leavening of humor here and there; When an obvious enemy tank rolls up to a country lane bus stop to pick up the Russian translator who helped them, the German ladies sitting there pretty much do a Daffy Duck or faint.The film captures the intensity of combat and the camaraderie of people under intense pressure who are certain they are going to die but are not going to be defeated.An amazing movie well worth your time. I really hope there are more Russian films about the Great Patriotic War like this to be found. Seeing it from another viewpoint is awesome.To paraphrase Conan from the original Schwarzenegger movie: "No one will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, or why we died. All that matters is that few stood against many. That's what's important!"I am always moved by tales of valor, of the few holding out against the many, whatever the overall cause and whoever has the right of it. Bravery transcends the causes of a war.

But 2 Hours later I realized my ass fell asleep and I had not moved an inch since the opening credits (which almost scared me off - very long credits in pure Russian that's harder to figure out than foreign language films that use the same alphabet). I ended up glued to my seat but on the edge of it. My body was tensed the whole time waiting for another slo-mo tank shell hitting the "good guys". It's definitely different to see the Communists as the hero good guys but not such a hard choice to make when the only other choice is the Nazis. I'm pretty sure I would root for Klansmen in full hoods before the Nazis. I can't imagine that a movie with such a choice would ever getting made though. Perfect escapism, and the overdub did not bother me a bit. This film was was not going for realistic documentary or even historical accuracy. Just sit back and enjoy the action. The people complaining about the movie being ruined by the dub are being too harsh IMO. There are hundreds of more seriously recreated and closer to authentic films out there that have the pure subtitle experience. I'll go so far to say that if I had to read subtitles this movie would not have been a blast to watch like it turned out to be. I did not want to work at all with this film and treated it more like Jackie Chan fun and less like History Channel. For the record, I love subtitled foreign films - I just don't think it would have been as entertaining in the case of this particular film.I will say that I watched it free with Prime streaming so I will give deference to critical comments of reviewers that paid for the DVD version and were unhappy. As part of Prime it was 5 stars all the way.

In WWII, Germans had better tanks than the Americans, *BUT*, the Russians had better tanks than the Germans![Hitler was a fool to declare war on Russia, who were once his allies]I don't understand how they captured a tank mostly intact, yet w all the crew dead inside. (usually both tank & crew are destroyed)Overall, good story, good music.Bonus:Have to admit, the "slow-mo" looks REALLY cool! :-)4* (near the end, should have saved the enemy, taken him prisoner. Killing when you don't have to, is murder)

Ok, item arrived quickly even without Prime. Yes, this is the extended version or directors cut that has all the scenes that were cut out of other versions. The beginning battlefield scene, the nazi gas station scene are just a couple that come to mind. Yes those scenes are in this version. There are only italiano subtitles, no English language or subtitles wich is a bummer, but idc i like to hear them speaking russian and german. English subtitles would be 6 stars for sure. Love the movie.

I'm one of those weird women that loves to play WarThunder for its WW2 planes and tanks. Or maybe I just like destroying the boys and then rubbing it in, ha ha! Any who, I never heard of this movie before but I watched the trailer and it looked good. It's a true story about a group of Russians who escaped a German prisoner slave camp during WW2. The dialogue is in German and Russian but there's an English voice over if you'd prefer not to have to read every subtitle. The VO can be a little off at times but you get used it and then you don't care anymore because the action sequences, some of the coolest I've seen in a tank movie. It mixes in things like range, angle, speed, turret slew rate, reloading time, and shell selection. It also shows you a lot of it from inside both sides tanks and when the action is about to get too fast, it'll hit slow-mo to make sure you don't miss what's about to happen next. It could use some minor tweaking but overall really enjoyed it and wished I could have seen it movie theater. I'm sure I'll watch it at least 5 more times if not 10, check it out if its your thing.

For realism, best viewed in Russian, with English subtitles. Although a fictional story, the acting and story line, and CGI battle sequences are well done. You'll want to watch this movie more than once, to catch the CGI details you missed the first time through - you'll be asking, "How did they do that?" This is a tribute movie, made in memory of all those who died, were injured or counted MIA, tank crews and especially those who suffered in concentration camps (which, thankfully, is shown only briefly). This is a movie you will find riveting, especially if you are interested in WWII tank tactics and weapons.

La rapidez del envío y el contenido de la película

Lo había comprado considerando las opiniones de algunos usuarios que decían que traía los subtítulos en ingles, pero....sorpresa, sorpresa...el que he recibido sólo tiene subtítulos en italiano. Increible, considerando que la mayoría de los títulos en Bluray vienen con subtítulos en infinidad de idiomas. Es incompresible. 14€ malgastados.

Very enjoyable. .but listen to the film in Russian and not English. .it really is drab.Subtitles included.
