Legions of Eydie fans, don't miss this one!
Eydie Gorme, one of the truly greatest songstresses of modern times, is no longer among us. What she did, as few others have been able to, was that she gave a song, any song, absolutely everything she had, every time she picked up a microphone, and she had it all. A perfect ear, at least a three-octave range, peerless ability to point a song where it needed to go, she just plain had the power not only with the song but with her listeners. This set represents eight LP's and almost a hundred songs from her early career, and Steve sneaks in here and there. Opinion here, but I'd be surprised if any of her audience members could hear her for more than a minute or two without devotedly listening to her. And she sang with such joy! That applies to both of them, her and Steve. I caught their act in Denver a few decades back. Our little world is a nicer place for her having been part of it for a while. Thanks, Eydie!

Eydie, What's not to love?
What a nice collection of early Eydie. This set consists of her 8 releases that precede 1960. While I own these all on LP, this made the music portable! Her biggest hits came after this series of LPs (Blame It On The Bossa Nova, If He Came Into My Life, What Did I Have? etc... along with a number of hits with her husband Steve Lawrence and her Spanish language albums) but this is well worth having. The packaging was nice enough though one rogue disc broke some teeth on the holder. If female vocalists are your thing, you must discover Eydie Gorme. She delivers.

Eydie Gorme sets a high standard!
I've been an Eydie Gorme fan since watching her on The Steve Allen Show years ago. I was only allowed to watch on Friday nights since there was no school the next day. Over the years I have collected her albums and now CDs. These are truly classic albums and I'm so glad to have them. Her voice is strong and she gives her all on every song. It's sad that she's no longer with us but her music lives on, lucky us.

I Like Eydie!!
The performance, as expected, is excellent. The quality of the recording is good, not excellent, This is not surprising, because most of the recording was done in the 50's and 60's. Overall, I am glad I made the purchase.

Love the album from 1957/58
Love the album from 1957/58. Great old songs and she does them so clearly. Even broadway show tunes. Just enjoy her voice.

Eyrie. You are deeply missed but you left us your superb talent. Great recordings.
Eydie is deeply missed and truly one of the best vocalists of the 20 th century. Her pinnacle definitely the mid to late 60 s. But these early recordings give you a hint of her later success.

I recently bought a 3 disc c.d of Etta James and tucked away on disc 3 was "It Could Happen To You". I knew straight away this was not Etta James and after a few seconds I recognised the lovely voice of Eydie Gorme. Realising I had nothing of Eydie in my collection (except the single of I Just Want To Stay Here) I started looking for a c.d of her and settled on this one. Her voice is great, some old favourites and some songs new to me. I especially liked the show tunes.Recommended.
