Note on proper use: 1) Use all new (4 new batteries required) high quality AA batteries, preferably Duracell, Energizer, or Basics. Cheaper less quality new batteries are inadequate and may not preform as necessary. 2) After completely revolving around the can and cutting the edge, the can will still appear to be sealed. After prying up the lid will it be evident that the can and its resealable lid are detached. 3) When soiled after use, wipe down blade with damp cloth and dry. 4) Do not lift or forcefully remove the can opener from the can while it is operational. Forceful removal can cause damage to the knife-edge.

Disappointed in short lifespan
Initially, this was a great can opener. Easy to use - though a bit slow compared to the speed of my old Krups 120volt unit, it got the job done. After a few months use its performance degraded to where it would open only on the second attempt. After a few more cans, we were reaching for the old "can cutting" opener. Several weeks later, thinking maybe we just didn't get the Bartelli aligned properly on the can, we tried again, and again, and again, Three times I tried to open one can and all the opener did was crawl around the perimeter vainly trying to uncrimp the top seal. I gave up and got the old cutting opener out.So what is the problem? It seems that the alignment of the decrimping wheel has changed as it's designd to run against the outside edge of the can while the gear drive engages the inner lip, their relative algnment causing the can to umcrimp. If the alignment goes bad you wind up with a mildly interesting toy.Yes it's a relative bargain. But if I've only been able to open 40 cans in its lifetime then it's cost me $0.50 to open each can! Not exactly cost effective.FWIW, I did replace the batteries thinking hey might be the cause of the poor performance. Nope.

Disappointment
Amazing product, huge help for arthritic old hands. Fun to watch it going around by itself and then delivering up a perfectly clean lid with absolutely smooth edges. I've only used it a few times so far. Do not know how long it will hold up. I did find it would not work on a can of Turkish dolmades--I guess the construction is different.P.S. six months later:This first one I got worked fantastically--for half a dozen cans. Then it just started creating fine metal splinters that tore up my fingers and got under my nails without opening the can. Painful! I contacted the seller, Deluxe Essentials, about getting it repaired. They immediately sent me a new can opener and told me to just throw away the defective one. The replacement worked fantastically--for about half a dozen cans. At least it's not making splinters--it just sits on top of the can without rotating at all and using up batteries. Thinking maybe the first can had a defective rim, I've tried it on a dozen other cans of different sizes. Same result. Very disappointing. I don't use a lot of canned goods--I cook mostly with fresh ingredients--but I loved the idea of cleanly cutting off the entire top of the can rather than having a razor-edged lid falling into the food in the can.

Piece of junk.
I was in need of a can opener and I looked at a lot and did not want a counter top unit and after reading a lot of reviews I picked this one and it worked great for about 10 times and then it let out a big pop and now it won't work it just runs and that's it. I would not buy this product ever again!!!!!!

Worked for about 11 cans. Not worth it!!!!
I'm not joking and i have nothing against this vendor. This can opener was one huge waste of money. I changed the batteries after opening about 8 can.(2 cans of corn and 6 cans of dog food). Then on about the 11th can the openener stopped working. I tried it on 3 different cans and it just wouldn't open. That's when i looked and saw that the blade splintered into pieces on the edge. Complete JUNK!!! Everything i opened was either wet dog food or vegetables. I had this opener for about 3 weeks until it broke. About 2 weeks until the batteries needed replacement.better off using a manual! The problem with amazon lately is all of these sellers ask for feedback before you even get your product. i usually receive 2 emails directly from every seller when i buy something. They get those reviews early on and people either forget or simply don't go back and change it. Then the bigest problem are all these product reviews. I notice people give 4 stars for bad products and 5 stars for anything OK and better.Ridiculous

Seemed awesome - but doesn't work at all after less than 20 uses
I thought this thing was awesome the first time I used it!It left a smooth edge on the removed lid and on the can, and it worked without any issues. But that was true only for the first few uses. Then it started getting tempermental - not quite working as easily...needing to angle it just the right way or repeatedly try again and again...until finally (after no more than 20 uses) it DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. And, to make matters worse, I've had it for 2 months, and apparently it's too late to return it. Off to walmart to get a standard, solid opener. What a waste.

SAVE YOUR MONEY
When I bought this can opener I worried that I would regret using a battery-operated appliance but I didn't have to worry. Before I used up the first four batteries the can opener stopped working. It stopped cutting the can tops off. Great idea but poor, cheap, product/

Works good
Bought this for my mother in-law as she can't use manual openers and doesn't have a lot of counter space for an electric one. She loves it and uses it all the time, says it does exactly as advertised. Our only complaint was that after about 5-6 months of using it, she dropped it once on the counter and some of the plastic housing broke and came off. I was able to fix it for her and she still uses it. Tempted to get one for my household.

Have been using this for about 3 months now. It works great. Just set the opener on top of the can and push the button. The opener then cuts small or large cans open leaving a smooth edge on the can and lid. Had debated about getting an electric opener that we could attach to the bottom of our upper cupboards and would plug in for more strength. I decided to try this first since the price is good. I'm happy we went with this option. It goes in the drawer when not being used and there's no issues with having to place it in the right spot to connect like some of the under cabinet versions I've used at family's homes.
